is anyone else missing this thread or am i sad!:rotfl:

have u seen lodger1's penthouse (if it exisits?)
what was wrong with lodger1's dd?
What happened to the tumbledryer ..or was it the wardrobe?
What is next to be freecycled?

What are the big badger house mates up to today? :rotfl: :rotfl:
    1. Haven't seen the penthouse - haven't heard a word from him since...
    2. Apparently it "wasn't meningitis" - haven't got any further than that!
    3. Tumbledryer is definitely gone cos I've put my laundry bin in that space now and it seems to fit there. Wardrobe is staying comfortably put.
    4. I've just given away his camping bed (due for collection tomorrow).
Today, Lodger2 and Lodger2's Brother have been sipping champagne in quiet celebration of Badger_Lady's successful job interview today, even though said interview has not yet led to an actual job (news expected Friday).

Lodger2 has gone all hyper, not good since he's got to be up for work in 4 hours... Boyfriend1 is still oop North but does have some casual work lined up.

So that could not have been the time I attended the "Whiteley's roof top studio? would that have been a debt week with a repeat on Sunday?
*thinks* before I am accused of stalking a young woman via VHS I'd better put my name down for this:

Thanks Jammy  Still a way to go, but on the right path!

Boyfriend1 has gone up North for a couple of weeks to earn some money, but I've found him a security job for when he gets back... I could do with getting the rent back in again

    Wow exciting developments Badger_Lady :)

Be careful though. To be absolutely on the safe side you could take contributions from new boyf to the tune of the bills (stipulated as such). Or you could agree that he pays for groceries and holidays (even better as there is no evidence of contributions to either mortgage or bills. While this might not be quite what he might pay in rent. There would/could be no arguments at any point later that he'd contributed to the mortgage. For all that you guys have history together, he's got money troubles and that can make people greedy for what they can spin in their own minds that they deserve. As a cynics view (I am in no way saying this will happen and nor would I want it to, but it pays to look at the worst possible scenario and prepare for it just in case).

So Scenario of cynicism (yes I've had a few relationships that didn't quite work out over the years and only one of them stiffed me over money the others were fine about it, but it only takes once for you to look out for yourself next time, and advise your mates on protecting themselves).

Imagine - few years down the line, things aren't working out as well, BF is still plugging away at his loan and has been paying rent for several years. He might see this as a contribution to the ongoing costs of the home you've made together. You see it as - this is my house I worked for it, I found it, organised buying it, I paid the deposit and he'd have had to pay rent somewhere anyway so why not to me it makes sense? After a few years he might have a sense of righteousness about his overall contribution that's all.

Instead of thinking of the money now, think of the potential peace of mind later. After all if everything works out lovely (after him having sorted his debts) you can buy a place together later (and rent your current house out, nb because if Scenario of doom 2 happens - that's the one where things go wrong after you've bought a place together then you've got a plan B, move back home and give yourself a pat on the back for being so forward thinking.)

Ok I'm just generally negative. But I'm also happy for you :) so keep us posted!

    Hello all!

Hope you don't mind my resurrecting this old thread...

After I left you all, things disintegrated between me and BF and he left the scene... so I started advertising again and extensively interviewed 4 potential new lodgers. Lodger2 and I agreed on two great guys, and eventually narrowed it down to Lodger3 who shortly moved in.

Lodger3 is a steady worker, easy to get on with, local boy who'd recently returned from a stint of travelling. We all hit it off instantly over a bottle of wine and had common interests as well as domestic stylings! I openly told him about Lodger1 and he said he'd never do the same.

OK, so why am I posting now?

Firstly, Lodger2 - I love him to pieces, we've become very good friends over the last few months. He feeds my chickens (yes, we have chickens now!) when I go away; last week, I drove to Cardiff with his concert ticket when he'd left it behind. But he's got noisy(er).

He'll always turn down his music - even ask whether it's the right volume. But I hate being the Noise Police! It's now twice a week that I have to text or knock on the door at midnightish on a weekday... he always reacts, but in the meantime I've woken up panicking about neighbours.

And now Lodger3... he's a really sweet guy. But last weekend we went out and he was drunk before we even got to the pub! Spent the entire night professing, "I fancy you so much, I have to move out.", totally sucking away my pulling power... he's very embarassed now.

I've just had to knock on Lodger2's bedroom door - the two of them were having a bit of a party downstairs - no problem at all, they both have Thursdays off and the basement's soundproof - but for some reason decided to move into Lodger2's bedroom. They were playing music at a just-about-acceptable volume, but with Lodger3 shouting "wooohooo!" over the top. I just heard him being violently sick in the bathroom

Pleeeeeeeaaaaase don't tell me I have to kick out another one! :rotfl:
