might be worth changing the locks just in case though....
who's not to say he didn't have a 'spare' key made in case he lost the first one - and he's not exactly the most reliable bloke in the world, wouldn't put it past him to have lost/mislaid that one instead...:o

Is that as opposed to a sett then?0 -
Sorry but I am going to be a doom monger.
With your ex-boyfriend moving in as a lodger, it would be best for you to give him a contract and declare the income.
I say this because if he moves in as a partner and pays money towards the household upkeep, he can claim part ownership of the property even if your not married should things go sour.0 -
Well, the good thing is that even if he did get a spare key made it would only give him access to the hallway and my new bedroom. (Sorry, mine and BF1's bedroom!)
Both my living rooms and Lodger2's rooms are locked, and there's nothing important in the shared basement.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Only came across this today. What compulsive reading. My goodness, how laid back have you been about the whole situation, BL. Hope things work out for you and partner and Lodger 2!

That's not strictly true:I'm a lodger. Do I need a TV Licence?
If you watch or record TV in your room, you need your own separate TV Licence.
This is the case unless you have a relationship with the home owner, for example if you are:- A member of the family
- A common law partner
- A live-in employee such as a nanny, au pair or housekeeper
