( funnily enough I had a phone call from my first love last week - however the effect was slightly spoilt as he didn't realise it was me at first......:o )

OK, back on track - this is the juicy bit you all want to know about:
Lodger1 has disappeared with his wardrobe, his bedside table, his personal belongings... everything except the tumble dryer.
And he handed his keys to Lodger2.
Does that mean the dryer's mine????Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
wasn't lodger2's friend moving in??
and you hadn't broken up from boyf but he had to find you through facebook???!!
I think I have lost the plot with this thread now?!SAHM Mummy tods (born Oct 2007) and dd (born June 2010)0 -

perhaps it's an early engagement present....:rotfl:
I'd be tempted to hold it to ransom in exchange for the wardrobe pole....:D

Whirlwind can be great....DH and I went on holiday together having met twice....have possibly the best marriage in the world now, but then this is something that went wrong once. Please take good care, make sure he makes no mortage payments for you and enoy it!0

Oh, I hope I can help to clarify:
- Lodger1's friend was going to move in, but then he backed out saying it was "too soon". He's actually on his way over for a celebration drink (just as a mate). So I was back to advertising for a Lodger.
- Me and Boyfriend1 never formally "broke up", but we gradually stopped seeing eachother 8 years ago. When we met on Tuesday, we hadn't seen eachother face-to-face in 5 years.
- I haven't mentioned Boyfriend1 before because I honestly had no idea all this was going to happen. I was scared to write anything, really, I think. But I'm absolutely thrilled to bits - can't wait! It's very weird, having been single for 3 years :rotfl:Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
And to think I went out and missed all of this!
Gutted isn't really the word - I would have enjoyed the build up let me tell you!
Badger - have you actually contacted this ex boyfriend (rather than him contact you) just so you don't disappoint us and leave us all with no saga to keep up with?
You're so selfless, you deserve a medal0 -

Thanks Losty - yes, you're right, and the arrangement is actually going to be exactly the same as a lodger to begin with. He'll be paying the same amount of rent, although I probably won't make him sign a contract. But he'll get extra benefits and services
Because he'll be my partner, presumably his contribution won't be taxable, which will then bring my rental income back into "Rent a Room Scheme" territory (only 1 lodger).
Of course, I'm not suggesting that's a good long-term partnership, but one thing at a time - he's got to get a job down here to start with! (And he's not the type to sponge.)

He-he, reading all this back it does kind of sound like this guy's just barged his way back into my life! I can assure you that it's all very mutual... after all, I'm the burned cynical one who's too independent to get serious with anyone. So believe me my brain is rattling about at the moment. Rattling? It's screaming "WHAT ARE YOU DOING???", but when I ask it to rationalise that reaction, it can't. Everything about Boyfriend1 is everything I've been looking for all my life.

Blimey ... so I shouldn't stop waiting for the one I went out with twice in 2001 then?0
