BL, are you absolutely certain the peeps who catnapped him last time haven't got him again and are pretending not to have him?

Do they know you're going off on your travels?

They do know and they have been giving him even more treats and having him over since they found out. Everyone has - I can't help thinking that may have contributed to his disappearance... his food here is healthy for his old kidneys but it doesn't compare to roasted salmon or cream so he's been going out to eat more and more frequently, and leaving more of his proper food alone. The guys at the end of the cul-de-sac yesterday told me they always give him a saucer of milk! Which is not good for him especially at his age... I give him heavily watered-down milk and restrict how much he can have. In a way cats are like children, they have to be told what to eat for their own health.

But no, I'm 100% sure the guys opposite haven't got him now... for a start they were complaining to me recently about him pooing in their house, suggesting I give them a litter tray. My reply was that he has a patch in the back of the garden to go to the toilet and that he simply shouldn't be kept indoors! And they conceded. We agreed between us that I would give them a box of his normal food - they clearly feel obliged to give him things (even though he always has plenty at home ) but at least that would be a healthy thing.

They keep small birds that fly freely, and they frequently invite me over for drinks. They only have a small house and I've been there since he went missing. They're actually pretty good neighbours and have been helping to spread the word... they know now just how much I love and care for him, and when I do take him round with me he always curls up on my lap, not theirs :p.

  • A friend of mine's puss-cat went missing for nearly three weeks and then just turned up one day ravenous and hungry. He'd obviously been trapped in some garage or shed somewhere despite her having been round to all the neighbours and asking them to check. People say they will but don't always do it. I'd go round the immediate area in concentric circles and go with people to check sheds and whatnot if they'd let me.

I'm sure he hasn't gone far, they rarely do. They're territorial and won't willingly stray onto another cat's patch without good reason. He might have been chased away out of his immediate area and may not be able to scent his way back home. Have you been out late at night when it's quiet and called his name?

He's out there somewhere, I'm certain of it.

    Go home Tufters!

I thought of you a minute ago when I drove passed a shop with high-vis jackets in the window. Have you had any sightings today of Tufters?
