Big Badger House (aka Noisy Lodger) HE'S GONE!

Does he use a litter tray and you still have the contents? Put some outside, front and back. If no cat litter empty the contents of the vacuum-cleaner out there.
He doesn't use a litter tray but he does use the back of the garden, and not well either :rotfl:There's plenty of fresh-ish poo on display there for him to follow. It's not a big garden so I'm not sure any other smells would help much.
The council rang this morning and confirmed that they've not picked any black cats off the side of the road since he went missing, so at least he hasn't been smooshed. I'm still convinced that some new kittynappers have started feeding him  Which is fine, but for !!!!'s sake phone the number on his collar!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Just been out for another walk round the area... still no sign. I can't eat or sleep until I know where he's gone
I just want my puss-cat back.
It keeps running through my mind - if no-one's found him and he hasn't come home, he simply must be trapped somewhere, scared and slowly dyingMortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Awww. Don't think that. Cats are pretty good survivors. They can turn up days, sometimes weeks later and act as though they have just been for a short stroll.
Hopefully he will waltz back in tomorrow without a care in the world.0 -
Have you put up posters nearby on lamposts asking people to check their sheds?
Fingers crossed his comes back in the night BL.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

(((((hugs)))))I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -

I've put them through everyone's doors in a 1 mile radius. Thing is, in 16 years, he's never strolled far from home. He's never caught a mouse, his arthritis puts a stop to too much jumping or clambering, and he's an enormous fan of people - if there are no people in the house he goes looking for them and starts following strangers around!
Sooo many times I've had a phonecall either from a nearby neighbour (someone not on my street) or from the vet saying "we've found this lost cat..." - they just ring the number on his collar. And of course he won't be lost - very often I've just gone to the shops. He's the most easy-going cat ever, he doesn't scratch or hiss, he just lets you approach him, pick him up and look at his collar without resisting. He'll even let you wipe the sleep out of his eyes! I stopped bothering with cat carriers a long time ago, he either just follows me when I call him or I carry him in my arms.
So that's why this is so out of character. I know 'most cats' wander off and I know 'most cats' just walk back in days or weeks later. But Tufter isn't most cats. Besides which, he has no extra weight on him at all and no ability to hunt. So either someone's feeding him and deliberately ignoring my phone number, or something's happened.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
I really don't want to be the one to have to say this but it's quite common for cats to wander off to find a peaceful place on their own, when their time has come. I have a feeling this might be what Tufter has done. Have a look under bushes, hedges, anywhere nearby he might hide away in.
I do hope you find him one way or another to put your mind at rest. There's nothing worse than not knowing and always wondering what happened :A“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I know and lots of people have been saying that. It would really, really surprise me just because he is in fantastic health for his age and is incredibly lively... most 16 year old cats I know sleep all the time, but Tufter bounces around talking and poking me with his paw and following strangers into their houses. The fact that he followed JoannaLodger halfway to work immediately before he went missing tells me that he wasn't feeling particularly old or poorly.
However, if it is the case, then that's fine! I just need to know for sure so I can mourn him. The only place he could have hidden would be in someone's back garden - it's terraced houses all around here, no public bushes or trees, just private ones.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
So sorry to hear about your cat I lost mine for 15 days he was stuck in garage but survived (he's only 2). I think you have done everything you can with posters and leaflets but have you knocked on the doors and asked people to check their gardens and sheds etc even asked if you can check them. We had not spoken to the people in the house where we was stuck in the garage but they said they had checked and even left the door open several times during the two weeks but they never heard him or he did not come out. Worst two weeks of my life.
If you look on the MSE pet board you will see most lost last have been stuck somewhere or moved in somewhere else. He is old so I would sadly agree with OP perhaps look in all corners or under bushes does he have any abortive places he liked to go to lie down?
Really hope you find him or at least find out more. In the end we went with AnimalsearchUK they do posters and leaflets and you get a free phone number people can call with information. They also told us a cat don't usually wander more than 10 houses in each direction.Save £12k in 25 No 49
