    *dribbles*

hang on mandi, i'll be there soon lol

    would jalapenos work in it?

Tink, If you want spicy get along to your nearest asian supermarket and buy some Laziza Seekh Kebab Masala Spice Mix. Its about £1 for a box which has 2 sachets in it.

Mix 1 sachet with 1kg lean beef, chopped onion and a crushed chili (or some jalapeno:)). Leave it in the fridge for an hour or so before shaping into rounds and cooking on a baking tray in the oven.

    Enjoy

The spice is widely available in asian supermarkets. If you cant get it use an extra chilli and some chilli powder and ginger.

  • hi all
this will probably sound a bit daft.. but im planning on making home made burgers for tea tomorrow... the mince will need defrosting however as it is in the freezer
if i get the mince out first thing in the morning do you think it will have defrosted by about 4pm.. if it hasnt completlely thawed out could i stick it in the microwave to defrost or would this make it just go funny and make it so that it wouldnt go into ball shapes!!???

depends on how much mince! I would have thought it would defrost but would def check throughout the day and perhaps break it up a bit to help it along. you can defrost in microwave but be careful that the bits that are already defrosted are removed before shoving the rest in the ding - they will cook if already defrosted if you see what I mean.
  • If the mince is in a plastic tub you can place it in a bowl of cold water as it helps it defrost faster!

However 500g on mince, even 1kg should defrost okay OUTSIDE the fridge in that time!!!

I find defrosting in the microwave makes parts of the meat rubbery and I don't recommend it!
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

Yes it should be defrosted by the time you need it depending on how cold your kitchen is, if you do need to use the microwave just give it short bursts of defrost and stand time.
You might like to make up the burgers next time you have some mince and freeze that way they will be ready to go once defrosted. Also get a defrost tray they work really well.

It will defrost quicker if you place it on a large metal baking tray.
