Im off to phuket early june .. Just spoke to my travel agent, as the FCO has lowered the warning for Thailand to just Bangkok , at the moment the trip is On ..
I now need insurance to for Myself and missus , I am concerned that even though Phuket does not have a warning over it my insurance could be void
due to warning hanging over bangkok...
Any suggestions on best travel insurance0 -
Airmiles has told me that they are the only company that offers insurance for flights that are booked with miles.
Before I take up their quote of £64 for 2 people booked on flights to Dubai for a week, does anyone know of another insurance company who does cover miles only flights pls?
I didn't take up their £20 miles insurance at time of booking the flights as wanted to check my annual policy first.0 -
Can anybody recommend travel insurance companies that are suitable for people with very minor health issues?
I take medication for migraine prevention and for period pains. They are both very minor problems which I have had for years and which I have been taking the same medication for for many years. There is no chance that I am going to be hospitalised in relation to either of these conditions. However, many insurance policies automatically exclude anyone receiving ongoing medical treatment (including taking prescription medication). With the others, it seems that you have to contact each insurance company individually, give them the details of your medical issues and get a quote so it's really difficult to get a quick overview of which companies offer a good deal.
I'm looking either for a company which is prepared to offer a policy which excludes cover for existing medical conditions (ie that it will pay out only for medical treatment not related to the conditions, rather than refusing to cover me at all) or one that takes a reasonable view on the risk of individual conditions rather than slapping huge additional charges on anyone taking medication. Can anyone suggest any suitable companies or policies?0 -
Rac over the phone.
I've had breast cancer and they cover me.
They ran through cancer history only, then make a quick call to their underwriters and come back with a quote.
Mine was 10% more than hubbys which I was fine with and would quote and cover me excluding cancer emergencies if I wanted, and all done in less than 5 mins.

PJ Haymen cover loss of "Frequent Flyer Points" under their Premier Travel Plus policy although it's an Axa policy.
Here is the relevant wording
"Loss of Frequent Flyer points up to the amount
shown (not to exceed the cost of the equivalent economy
ticket) where it is not possible to transfer these to an
alternative flight."0 -

Columbus direct have an online medical condition quote. You specify the condition and it tells you what the extra cost is. Or you can opt not to have that covered which means you told them so they can get out of the rest of the cover. M&S have similar but I wouldn't recommend M&S.
Some others have a no screen list of minor aliments that are covered automatically, but sometimes that is limited to just one off the list or perhaps 2. But I never found any that meet my other must haves of: 1. Cover if you get stuck on the motorway to the airport because of an accident ahead. 2. Cover for scheduled airline failure. I currently have Columbus as they were the best of bad job. It seemed to me that their quote systems always added a premium even for trivial conditions which feels like being ripped off. But the cost and cover was best I found so I used them.
Columbus pay out for Ash, but the cover levels are not high enough to be worth a lot (100 less excess, per person). Still do any insurances cover ash? I think on the ash front all you can do is only use EU airlines.0 -

A group of us are going to Germany for the weekend in September. A friend has booked everything and I have paid him my share of the cost (flight and hotel).
I want to buy travel insurance to cover curtailment\cancellation (if I can't fly out of the UK due to an Ash Cloud for example).
1) Will I be able to recover my hotel cost? Obviously I didn't pay for the hotel on my credit card! He paid for everything on his credit card however!
I am thinking about going for a Virgin Money or Columbus Direct policy!
2) Will they cover me if another we have a problem with ash again in Sept? ie, did they pay out with the recent issues?A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Hmm,We have paid 5k per person for a cruise..I'm not too interested if the airline doesn't refund the £250 flight costs, but I can't afford to lose 10k to the cruise line 'cos we couldn't get there..Debt-free...and staying that way...0
