We are travelling as a family in Aug so I would normally just get a family annual travel insurance policy. However my 16 yr old son is going to Spain with friends, to visit their relatives in June and I can't find a way to cover him individually. He can't get his own insurance being under 18 but family insurance states if he travels alone he will only be covered if it is an organised or school trip. Any suggestions of a company that does or tips would be much appreciated.0

I second Direct Travel Insurance. They cover minors travelling on their own.0

can anyone point me in the right direction---i am having a prolonged break in turkey and find myself with no insurance--im under 50 and looking for standard cover-im returning in july-turkey sometimes comes under europe as part of it is actually in europe and it adheres to a lot of eu policies---i used endesleigh(sp) a long time ago but not sure whether they are the best or will cover me while i am already awaymfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

Are you already in Turkey? Why have you decided to get insurance now? No policy will cover you for something that has already happened.
No UK insurer will cover you unless the journey and policy started in the UK.
Try World Nomads or worldwideinsure0 -
i thought i was covered under my turkish wifes national policy but it turns out i havent been covered for 10 months!!
i was hoping to get something just to tied me over till my uk return and sort something then--i will look at those sites but looks like i will have to get a private health insurance here to cover me for another year and waste the time i am in the uk this year.
nomads seems to be unconcerned where i am when i buy the insurance--nothing is wrong with me or happened i just want cover if anything happens!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced couples annual travel insurance for Europe/UK?
We travel alot, mainly by budget airlines, and book our own hotels etc. so don't use package deals. Having checked what most cover, unless you pay out for the higher ones, they don't even cover travel delay anymore!!!
Any recommendations?0 -
Hi,
i'm going to US with the family ( 2 adult = 2 children) this summer to a couple of different cities and also Disneyworld. I am looking for a insurance with a higher than normal cancellations cover. after going through this thread some people recomends Tesco, Post office or Fortis but the cover for cancellations in only £2000. I have checked the Premier policy of insurefor.com and it gives £5000 but first I am not sure how good they are and secondly I don't know if the cover events like BA strike ( sadly we have got the tickets with them).
any suggestions please?
thx0
