I've just been looking up for renewing my travel insurance and I usually buy european cover. But I did a quote for worldwide and it came up at £14 cheapest cover, so I was just wondering if I choose this I am still covered as normal in the EU?

The chest problems may well ring alarm bells for insurers and increase the premium substantially, depending on what it was. Asthma, for example, won't be much of a problem, but chest pains could be.

The only answer to your question is 'honestly and openly'. Anything less than that and you could find a claim being rejected - even if it isn't chest-related.

I'll leave it to them to sort out travel insurance, i doubt there would be any issues not covered under the E111.

Family members are coming to stay with us, so no time limit on how long they can stay before they return back to the uk, and even if they could not fly back. Im sure the 2,000mile road trip back could be arranged to get them home.

    Hi

I am looking for an annual policy and given all the recent issues with the volcano, I want to make sure we are covered for hurricane's.

There are no pre-exsisting medical conditions for anyone in the party.

We are booked with VH this year, although for our next trip I was thinking of DIY, can any one offer any suggestions on who to use for the insurance. The trip will also involve a cruise.

I usually have Tesco's, but before I renew it, I wanted to make sure.

    Thanks

    Hi everybody!!!

I've been a MASSIVE fan of mse for years but this is my first post for help! I am hoping someone can give me some guidance after hours of research...

I am a 26 year old male and have dual nationality: British/Italian. I now live and work in Italy. In an average year I go on about 8-12 visits abroad - always for pleasure not work. The trips can be from a weekend to a month long, in europe and elsewhere. I also return to the UK 2-3 times a year. I never book my holidays through a travel agency - I always arrange the whole holiday, flights hotel etc myself and never use ryanairs/easyjets recommended insurance covers.

I am looking for an annual worldwide insurance cover that will actually cover me when i need it! I travel mostly with a suitcase which contains a large amount fo valuables, not to mention my new suitcase that cost €200! So I am looking for the best cover possible (with the highest cover possible for my suitcase contents) that will cover me when I take holidays in the UK and abroad. Remember I am resident in Italy.

I hope you can help! thanking you in anticipation!

You will probably need a policy issued in Italy as you need to be a resident of the UK to get one from a UK insurer.

An alternative, but expensive, might be World Nomads or worldwideinsure.

The E111 does not cover everything and it differs from country to country. It may cover ER only, it never covers re-patriation and in places, no hospital stay. You should always have travel insurance to cover un-covered services.

Tesco insureance is good as any (in my "preferred list") - however cruise can bump up your premiums quite a lot. If you are unsure of a cruise, see if you can take out annual policy and then, if you book, they will allow you to "upgrade" to cover a cruise. It's no good paying higher premiums if you decide not to cruise.

" anyone in the party" = I always advise - only cover on your policy your immediate family (those living at the same address & minors) i.e. Mum, Dad & kids.

Children over 18, Aunts & Uncles and Grandmother/father living with you should arrange their own insurance.

If you want to make sure you are covered for hurricaines (or other particular incident), then you may want to use a broker for specialist advice.

    My favorite & the most responsible insurer is Fortis (also available through the Post Office;

I am looking to buy annual travel insurance. In the next twelve months, we have 3 trips planned, one in Europe, one in UK and one not yet planned but will be either UK or Europe. In the twelve months after that we may need worldwide insurance. At what point would I need to have a worldwide policy?

Eg if my annual policy runs out in May 2011, but I book a worldwide trip in February 2011 to travel in July 2011, do I just upgrade to worldwide on renewal in May or do I need to upgrade from February and is this possible? Ie I realise that the higher cost of worldwide is due to the potential medical bills/repatriation costs so the IC's risk is not there until July 2011, but would I be covered for cancellation if I had to cancel before I upgraded my policy?

    Thanks

You'll need the worldwide policy as soon as the non-Europe trip is booked. From that point on the company is at risk for cancellation etc, and it's highly unlikely that a non-worldwide insurer would pay any claim.

Would I be able to upgrade the Europe policy to worldwide when I book the worldwide trip? ie still part way through the Europe year of cover?
