Ok, that told me!
As you seem to know what you're talking about - do you have any feedback on insurefor.com at all?I don't think I can hang on til Friday...0 -
ERNIE - Sure this is a policy from Rock Insurance and is underwitten by Europ Assistance, - there is one of their reps who insists in giving you bad advice and not checking and he refuses to speak to us and insists on e-mailing which I cannot pass information by e-mail (privacy laws) - see the problem there? He does'nt!!!
They are average only, nothing outstanding. Lately They have been using Canadian Medical Network as a cost-containment agent, who are useless!
If you can buy elswhere - I would advise it - but you'll probably pay more.
Make sure your coverage is OK
Try Tesco or Fortis (who is the best travel insurer in my opinion).C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

We are going to New York in August 2 adults 1 child - we normally get off the shelf travel insurance - but we have a disabled son who goes to respite while we are on holiday and I have just been thinking if he was taken ill before we went away/or while away would we be covered for cancellation or curtailment. He has cerebral palsy but isn't ill - just non mobile & non verbal, non epileptic - have never declared him on the insurance before - should I ?0

CAZZIE - ABSOLUTELY - if you declare any decent IC probably would not count it as he has not been in hospital (assume as you say "is'nt ill). If you don't declare and something happened you'd find out how good your IC really is, after a claim is when they will "find holes" to get out of paying and the biggest "hole' would be the non-disclosure of your sons PEMC and therefore in the situation that you ask above (him being taken ill while you are away), then the IC would probably deny your cancellation or curtailment claim.
I wonder what you mean "off the shelf" insurance?
Does that mean cheap? If so - Oh Dear!C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

A friend didn't declare that her mum had MS, because she didn't know she needed to. She was manager of a major building society and yet she didn't know something this basic.
When her mum died, it wasn't related to the MS, but she lost the cost of a holiday to the Caribbean as she hadn't declared it.0 -
My partner and I are going away for 58days this summer, to Hong Kong, Oz and Thailand. I've been trying to find a good policy to cover us but they are all either hugely expensive or severly lacking.
We are away too long for the normal single trip policy and even with annual cover our duration exceeds the maximum per trip.
Any hints or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,

DMAIN10 - try http://www.citybond.co.uk/Long-Stay-Policy.aspx?ptype=Long_Stay_Travel_Insurance
18 month trip (as long as you are under 65 yrs old)
You are not going to find cheap,
the more you pay for the trip = the higher the premiums
the longer you travel = the more the risk = the higher the premiums
the more countries = the more risk (illnesses & political unrest etc) = the more the premiums
Etc etc etc
Oh by the way
Thailand ??? Foreign Office have an no travel advisory at the moment that means no Insurers will pay out Thai claims as you ignored FCO advisory to travel.

Bit of a tricky one that i wouldn't mind gaining opinions on if you wouldn't mind!
I am a single mother to a now 19 month old boy. I am separated from his dad (my husband), but we still have an amicable relationship.
We are both taking the child to my mums on separate occasions this year, i am taking him on my own in July for 10 days, he is taking him on his own in September for 4 days. She lives in Guernsey, which we have to fly to, and which doesn't have the NHS and is renound for being very expensive for medical needs. I will need insurance for myself and my son for the duration of that stay.
When he is taking our child away to my mums in September, i am going to Ibiza for 5 days at the same time, obv without him. This being the case, my son will need 4 days cover just for himself for when he is in Guernsey with my ex. I will also need my own cover for my trip to Ibiza.
On top of that, i think we may be going to Center Parcs (UK) for 5 days at the end of the year.
My question is, would i be better obtaining separate holiday insurance policies for all of the above trips, or can i get an annual one for myself and my son (and would it work out cheaper?) bearing in mind that for one of the trips, we will be travelling to different places without each other?
Many thanks in advance if you can help!0
