    Hi All,

I went to Westwood Cross today & managed to get the 341 Model Me deal with the 342 & Express voucher :j Also tried to use the 300pts from pc vouchers on any proffesional Haircare (inc Model Me) when you spend £8, so I handed over the 300 xtra points before the Express voucher & the till bleeped!   3 SA then read it inside & out & agreed to add them manually:j then I gave her the Express voucher...........she rumbled me!
She then pointed out that I hadn't spent £8! Well it was worth a try!
Also found a Heart Rate Monitor Clock on a small clearance by the till for £2.49..........I don't know how much it was but well worth £2.49 of anyones money!

I really like garnier fructus shampoo but get told off by my hairdresser who says it is bad for your hair! The story is about coating the hair in some way! Dont really understand it.

Did you never watch or hear about the watchdog programme regarding fructis when it first came out?

They also spoke of Pantene and Head and Shoulders(newer formula) as weell as Fructis shampoo because the amount of silicone in it was tremendous.

People were saying that they had to go to the hairdresser and have bleach solutions applied just to strip the silicone off their hair, which of course, caused it to look greasy, dirty and weighed down right after a wash.

They since have all reduced the silicone in their formulas greatly, but they are still loaded!

Although a small amount of silicone is helpful to flatten the hair shaft and give a shiny look, too much can weigh down the hair and produce an oily-like effect.

But any type of silicone based shampoo should really be avoided as the hair can not breathe anyway.

Funny that because Garnier Fructis is a much favoured brand amongst the long hair community. (Yup, there are forums for people just to talk about growing their hair, lol!) My hair is uber-fine but hovers somewhere around waist length, I don't heat treat it or colour it and it's in very good condition despite all the Fructis! Almost all modern conditioners put a coating over the hair cuticle to smooth it down...the trick is to control the build up by using a good old fashioned cider vinegar rinse once per week to take all the residue off. Quite a lot of conditioners (Trevor Sorbie, for example) make my hair feel sticky and gloopy, but not the Fructis.

Could anyone who shops in Glasgow centre please give me some idea of where the best branches are, any clearance shelves etc? I'm visiting soon and haven't been before, hoping to pick up some bargains! Am definitely getting withdrawal, not been near a Boots since using up some till spits over a week ago (when stocks were still quite good).

I also have long hair (not as long as yours tho'!) and at the moment am finding it doesn't seem very clean after it's been washed - now I suspect build up from shampoos or maybe conditioners. Would you mind spilling the beans about the cider vinegar rinse, please? Neat/diluted? Leave on/wash off after pouring thru hair?
    TIA!

Oh, it's dead easy. You can buy cider vinegar (organic or plain!) in the supermarket for about £1.20 a bottle. I use a very big plastic jug and dilute down about one part vinegar to seven parts warm water, but it doesn't have to be measured to the last ml, just do it by eye. Shampoo hair, rinse, pour over the vinegar rinse slowly, (shut your eyes if doing it in the shower) making sure you get it over all your hair then rinse and condition as normal. If you don't condition after your hair will feel really dry and frizzy so don't worry about adding conditioner after you've supposedly just removed it...it's the unwanted build-up you're removing.

You can use lemon juice instead, incidentally...fresh or Jif. It's the dilute acid that does the trick. Leaves nice highlights if you're blonde.

Just to add some Boots/hair product content, btw...I was reading the back of the Fructis bottle and I'm pretty sure that the "culprit" ingredient for coating the hair shaft is the amodimethicone.... the "cones" are silicones, so basically it IS a plastic coating you're putting on your hair! But if you use any sort of heat styling device you need this protective coating or your hair will just frizz up and break off, so it's not necessarily a bad thing. Since straighteners came out there's been a huge number of new products released for protecting your hair, and I bet 90% of them are ~~~~cones of some sort. Go read the bottles.

Just wondered if someone could tell me if the 342 on dental products would still apply to clearance ranges? I got 2 toothbrushes and some toothpaste and kinda hoped to get the cheapest free?

    Any ideas?
