I think the above is a good argument for Boots to make the cards pin protected or similar . Some if us have accumulated large amounts on our cards -- in some cases more than is in the bank ( end of the month syndrome!) and can lose the lot with no refund (usually) from Boots as you cant prove who used the card.
They could also improve the machine so that it was harder to leave your card in it ! The only time i have nearly left mine is when the offers are such rubbish that I have turned to walk away in disgust!

My mam and I were talking about this the other day and we think that boots should let us buy special advantage card vouchers so that once you have accrued alot of points you can change them for a voucher. Hence you can keep the vouchers at home and not have the oppurtunity of losing card and the precious points of course. Then once saved enough points/vouchers you need you can exchange them for goods in the normal way.

Of course this would probably be too much for Boots to cope with so it'll never happen.:p

    !
Also found a Heart Rate Monitor Clock on a small clearance by the till for £2.49..........I don't know how much it was but well worth £2.49 of anyones money!

    Debsx

I also got one of those Heart rate monitor thingies, on Sunday arent they great? Never seen them before.

I paid £2.25 with my discount. It is a clock, alarm clock , room temperaure, day/date and reads your pulse heart rate too and shows the beating heart to indicate its regularity or not :heartpuls :heartpuls . Great little gadget. I have never seen one before. It looks rather like a digital clock, but has a big easy to read display. Bargain of the best kind. :T :T

Yes thats is like a tesco clubcard, knew there was an easier way to explain it:rotfl:

I know I would be upset if I lost mine after I have managed to get quite a lot of points recently (and alot of products from the expert range;) )

I use moisturiser with spf 15, but think I might want to add a higher sun block on top of that. I don't use foundation though and want whatever I use to be color-free. Clinique City Block gets high reviews, but you say it looks like a foundation?

It might look like a foundation but it's just got some tint in it to counterract the whitening effects of the sunscreens. :)

    :hello: Hello!
I'm a bit of a lurker on here as I never seem to find many bargains in my local boots to post :( . Just wanted to say I think the colours idea is fab.

Also has anyone from SHeffield ever found a clearance shelf in the fargate shop

    thanks

Fargate - that's the one in town right? I hadn't seen one there in the months I've been here at uni, but I went in today and quel surprise there was a brand new one by the tills (not photo) upstairs - not just a shelf either but a couple of shelving units suggesting they might have big plans! When I saw it, there was only a couple of pregnancy electrical thingys and a ted baker deodorant with a lid missing  but I shall keep checking! Also, the moor boots has clearance shelves at the front right (as you go in) not much there last time I went in but they've had sun creams and other things in the past.
I didn't know that - it seems to be in nearly everything I've got ! It also appears in toothpaste. "Many, though not all, toothpastes contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) or another of the sulfate family. SLS may cause a greater frequency of mouth ulcers in some people as it can dry out the protective layer of oral tissues causing the underlying tissues to become damaged."
I always used to get ulcers till I found a non SLS one.

I subscribe to the excellent site beautypedia and I looked up on this as I hadn't heard her mention anything like this on SLS or SLES and sure enough, I found this which says that a lot of the research to make the claims against SLS is based on incorrect conclusions drawn from research which tested the effects of SLS
on animals at a 10% greater strength than is used in shampoos etc. It also says:

"Resulting mass emails [wondering about the dangers of SLS] continued for some time, carrying on the SLS and SLES myth with a slightly different bent. Yet, according to Health Canada, in a press release, February 12, 1999 (http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/), "A letter has been circulating the Internet which claims that there is a link between cancer and sodium laureth (or lauryl) sulphate (SLS), an ingredient used in [cosmetics]. Health Canada has looked into the matter and has found no scientific evidence to suggest that SLS causes cancer. It has a history of safe use in Canada. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that this email warning is a hoax. The letter is signed by a person at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and includes a phone number. Health Canada contacted the University of Pennsylvania Health System and found that it is not the author of the sodium laureth sulphate warning and does not endorse any link between SLS and cancer. Health Canada considers SLS safe for use in cosmetics. Therefore, you can continue to use cosmetics containing SLS without worry."

I don't know about toothpastes, though.

    i use this one
    http://www.lancome.co.uk/_en/_gb/catalog/product1.aspx?prdcode=119063&categorycode=AXEBodySuncare^F1_Suncare^F2_Sun_VeryHighProtection^F3_Sun_High_Pro_Face&vname=name&rtlid=WELLBEING

very good wud recommend it i know its expensive but u literally only need three drops for the whole face...

It might cover your face with 3 drops but you need to make sure you're using enough to get the SPF rating on the bottle. If you use too little it simply doesn't provide enough protection.

In other news, if anyone is looking for a memory card, the SD 512 MB has a SEL of £13.99
but scans at £9.99 (at least in my Boots) and I got an ACM voucher for 500 points on a memory card, and I used the PC 500 points one too - both worked fine so 1000 points back on a £9.99 spend! I know the boots ones are horrible value for money but with the points, not so much...

If anyone is wondering what to get with the 200 points on No7 suncare and can't find any wipes, I used the line lift, £5 off PC and this voucher on:

    No7 gradual facial tanner SPF15 £9.75 - £5 = £4.75
    Line lift £12 free
Tinted moisturiser £9.50 but free on 342

So I got £31.25 worth for £4.75 with 200 points back! And obviously you could get anything you wanted instead of the the moisturiser but just to show you what can be done!

Phew, that was the longest post ever! Hope it helps someone :)
;) One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you! ;)

Did you never watch or hear about the watchdog programme regarding fructis when it first came out?

They also spoke of Pantene and Head and Shoulders(newer formula) as weell as Fructis shampoo because the amount of silicone in it was tremendous.

People were saying that they had to go to the hairdresser and have bleach solutions applied just to strip the silicone off their hair, which of course, caused it to look greasy, dirty and weighed down right after a wash.

They since have all reduced the silicone in their formulas greatly, but they are still loaded

Although a small amount of silicone is helpful to flatten the hair shaft and give a shiny look, too much can weigh down the hair and produce an oily-like effect.

But any type of silicone based shampoo should really be avoided as the hair can not breathe anyway.

I have been told that washing up liquid will shift any build up - but you'd need a good conditioner afterwards if your hair is dry! Not sure about the last statement as hair is dead cells and if it could breathe that would just be scary!

I have very fine textured hair but loads and loads and loads of it - like a big dandelion head. For me silicone products have been a godsend. I use John Frieda Serum for coarse hair to beat it into submission and it has been a lifesaver - I don't think you can get any more silicone than that - but I now have very tame shiny hair and have never had to deal with any 'build up'.

Apologies in advance but I feel that I too need to say my final piece on this farse and put it to bed..
(I will be sending this in a PM to passion8 as she is ignoring me  )
I do not know what problem p8 has with me, or why I was singled out (this time) for her tongue lashing as I have never met her nor (AFAIK) done anything to upset her but I think that anything else she has to say to me should be done in PM as I am sure that everyone is fed up (as am I) of all this childish back biting for no apparent reason. I apologised if I had misunderstood her posts and as far as I was concerned that was that.
I will not rise to her bait (nor anyone else's) any more

Well done :T You got some great prices there, especially on the Ted Baker. The best I could do was £1 for the body spray and there was only one left. I also managed to get the last 3 hacket shave foam for 50p each.

I think the locusts had hit my local store.:D :D It's nice to get some male stuff for a change as most of my stash is female, and my family is male dominated.
