    Kaz,

I'd expect a very high germination rate (95-100%) for runner beans if grown indoors. My preferred method is to use toilet rolls (load of threads on this!) with a plug of newspaper at the bottom end to keep in compost. When sufficient tubes filled(and planted with beans) then tape around once with masking tape (to stop them falling over) and put on a drip tray. Water once from the top and then as often as needed into tray to keep sides slightly moist but not wet.

Too much water will either rot seeds or cause damping off of seedlings (they collapse due to fungal attack)

Dawn, I've only just started using growing success pellets but you may want to check them out as they are certified for organic use and state that they will not harm wildlife

Thanks for this I will go and investigate the contents on the slug pellet box -
A friend said that they attract more slugs rather than killing off the few that you have.
Had some really HUGE ones in there this morning. Yuk

Jamieboy: just cut the leaves, they will re-grow, but don't let them flower.

I have this 'stuff' growing in my back yard and even IN the shed!!! Everytime I dig it up, more grows back. I've tried using weed killer and didn't work and got no more idea's on how to get rid of it

The photo with the blue floor is in the shed! They look like mushrooms when you let them grown completely.
