i ordered an unlock sim from hong kong for my motorola V8 so that I could use my "3" simcard in it but it doesn't work, even though the unlocking sim claims to be the latest version that works with 3G sim cards.
although i guess 3G into 2G probably wouldn't go anyway.
i might try and re-sell the unlocking sim on ebay anyway - cost me £50 -

Unlock Report contains options for how to unlock the selected phone. Unlock codes are not necessarily included in the Unlock Report. Unlock Reports are sent instantly by email, options within the Unlock Report may take longer. Further costs may also be involved, depending on the options available.

I needed to unlock my phone (tied to Virgin) as I wanted to use a Vodaphone sim. I looked on line to see how I could unlock my Sony Ericsson 810i and I paid a site £3.28 for what I thought would be an unlocking code (why else would the site ask for my IMEI number?).
Today, I received an email with 3 parts.
'1, contact your phone provider (Virgin) and ask for the unlocking code.
2, Use the web to look for sites to get the code.
3, pay £10 to £30 at a local shop'
Wow, what an idiot I have been! I know it's only £3.28 but I been mugged without leaving my home!

W810i.
I did not see this thread before I paid, otherwise I would not have been such a fool. It annoys me no end that companies(?) can do this to people.
Edit, I have just had an email from the company and they have stated they will refund me within 24 hours.0 -
