I have had a lovely afternoon

Weather has been gorgeous - it was only a couple of weeks ago that I started wearing my spring coat instead of my winter one, and today I was out in just a strappy top and no coat at all :j :j
Went for a swim, then went to Robert Dyas and decided I definitely do want the food processor that they've got on special offer, but decided not to buy it today or I would have had to carry it round for the rest of the afternoon. There is a branch of RD near my office, so I think I'll drop in later in the week after work.
Then treated myself to a Frappuccino at Starbucks (my first one of 2008
) and went across the river to meet up with my brother and his GF at the Slow Food Market. It turned out to be mostly stuff to eat there and then, rather than goodies to take home - so spent the best part of £10 and have nothing to show for it other than a really good BH afternoon
Had some organic fruity smoothies (free!), oysters and clams, a fried mushroom sandwich (made with a stunning selection of mushrooms), a half pint of oyster beer, various free samples (cheeses, pates, cereal bars) and... err, I think that was everything. Then bro's GF had to go home (they don't live together, she's studying in Kent) and me and bro went for a nice outdoor pint of beer at his local.
Just got home, put my feet up, and need to do a few odds and ends before the snooker comes on. Missed watching the afternoon session obviously, but have seen the score, and it doesn't sound like it will be a very long evening
Happy birthday to Mme. Clochard :bdaycake: and Buffy the Vampire Bat :bdaycake:
Oh by the way... the other thing I was looking for in Robert Dyas, and have been looking for everywhere, was a nutmeg grater. You know the sort with a tapered metal tube and a little plastic pouch that slots in at the wider end for storing the nutmeg? I can't find one anywhere, except online at sites where the postage would almost be the cost of the grater all over again  - anybody know where I can get one on the high street?
Anyway. Need to work out what's for dinner

Well I figured I better pop on and "fess up"... today I have been cleaning and tidying and... I'm not being very OS!!
I have stardrops etc but I'm afraid I went and bought another thingy of CillitBang because it's just so darned effective at shifting limescale and we live in a hard water area so everything gets very limescaley.
I've also done loads of washing today and only a couple of loads have made it to the whirleygig in the garden to dry... and I used fabric softners instead of Vinegar...
I'm feeling exceedingly naughty now! *hangs head in shame*
So to make up for it I shall go and make HM risotto for dinner and try not to feel TOO guilty... But I just didn't have time today to be OS - still feeling guilty... *sigh*DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Evening to everyone,
Hope you have all had a nice Bank Holiday weekend. I had a go at making some korma curry and naan bread from CurryQueen's post, which turned out quite good. I ended up substituting an apricot fromage frais for the yoghurt in the naan bread, but it still tasted okay.:D
Otherwise today has been quite busy, with going into town, going to the local park with DS and trying to get the house sorted out. I suppose things will be back to normal tomorrow, as I'm back at work after a week off.
Anyhow my thoughts are with those that need them - especially Mrs Mix. Have a good evening all. PowieA woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0 -

Hi everyone :hello:
Had a lovely day wandering round the shops today with OH and DD's. Really nice to have a look round rather than trying to get everything on the list before DD's get bored. Had an ice-cream and got to have a good nosey in the pound shops for a change so i'm a happy bunny. Doesn't take much!
Finally sorted the schools appeal letter so that's a big thing off my never ending 'to do list'. Managed to get a few odds and sods done, the huge pile of paperwork got filed last night, the bottle bank has had it's quota from us for the month and i've got some washing dried in the sunshine so reasonably productive I guess.
Feeling tired now so off to get my evening bits done  :wave:0 -
I'm really envious of those of you who've been camping, as it has been such a lovely day here. It does feel like summer, doesn't it? Neighbours here even had a barbecue.
Here's an update on the post 'tru' situation. They did it - well 2/3 gang did! :jIt just shows that 'doing a tru' works! I'll remember the script for next time, as I don't suppose this is a one off. I'm going to keep this up and be very specific about what each of them needs to do, as 'tidy up while I'm out' etc is a waste of time.
DD slunk off to work while I was out though I've given her instructions to sort out her room tomorrow, ie pick up and sort clothes that don't fit, need washing, mending, chucking out and clear out other unsavoury items (cups etc).
Her boyfriend mowed the lawn, which was quite a job as its grown so much in the last couple of weeks. I've strimmed, sorted out a few pots and sprayed some weedkiller on the paths, so feeling quite virtuous.
DS has vacuumed the floors and stairs, so its much better here and tidyish. I did put his dirty plate and glass on his bedroom floor though but amazingly he brought them down and put them in the dishwasher!
I'm off to polish (the furniture, not language lessons!) though don't suppose I'll fit the studying in. That 's to be tomorrow evening's priority as I'm seeing my tutor at the end of week to discuss the essay I haven't planned yet.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
Hi everyone
I'm back - large as life and twice as noisy.
Came back from Towcester today. The house feels very spacious after just over 4 weeks in the caravan. Had fish and chips for tea as absolutely nothing in the house. Have left the unpacking of the 'van until tomorrow. then it will be a a washing marathan, hoover and dust the house (just to move the dust that has settled) clean out the 'van inside and out, ready for the weekend at Rother Valley, just a stones throw from dlb and C-C. Battery running out on laptop so will have to cut this short.
Hugs Pam and Smokybabe
Birthday wishes to all those missed.

Churchmouse - I know i said to wave at the football, but there was no need to do a streak
 :rotfl: !!![/quote]
Well I wasn't sure you'd notice if I just waved:rotfl: So they showed it on TV did they? I thought the stewards were very slow to try and get her(oops of course I mean me, I really am that young and slim:rolleyes: )
Sorry, I'm really tired so I've only skimmed the thread, it was one very long day, but was an excellent match and the supporters coach was a happy place to be for the journey home.
((((((mrs mix))))))) I'm so sorry it looks like bad news for your Dad. In my thoughts and prayers.
((((candygirl))))) same to you. A very hard time to get through.

They didnt actually show her/you - it was the BBC after all!!! - but they showed the Leeds manager looking very happy, and someone commented how he was enjoying the view, so i guessed it had to be you!!! Glad you had a good time xx0
