Old Style Monday 5 May

Good Morning Old Stylers :A

Off for the sticky.................and a pot of tea

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

That's better :T Busy weekend up to now. We gardened Friday and Saturday. DH and I went to the nursery and bought some tomato plants (they're now planted in the polytunnel) and some shrubs for the garden. I did loads of weeding, planting seeds, and DH dug our second veg bed (where the beans, pumpkins, courgette, etc will go).

Yesterday was a bit miserable, and the Small Penguins were both away, so I opened all the windows and dusted like a demon :A DH and I then caught up on all those jobs that we promised to do when we got a "round tuit" ;) so I have a hanging blind (hanging in the window rather than over the bannister :T ), a functioning bottle carrier on my bike, organised recycling, and a tidy porch :j

We were planning a walk today (up to Tadcaster, possibly - elona we'll pop in on you :p ) but it's looking like rain, so that may be on hold :o

Thai chicken curry for tea, and a pub lunch was planned ;)

Hugs to all in need, and to anyone who wants one :grouphug:

Happy Birthday to Buffy Vampire :bdaycake:

:kisses3:to TNG and to the other hussys

  to Shez

Have a great Bank Holiday, Penny. x

Morning Pen Pen, Kyle & everyone else,

It's a public holiday here today as well but it's Labour Day. DH had to work though. I've cleaned the house, done some cooking & caught up with the washing. Going to have my arvo tea shortly and then I will do some yard work while it's still warm outside.

    Granny is enjoying herself. :D

    Hello everyone!

It's coming up to 3pm here and I've had quite a productive day.

I've been to the gym, two different banks, posted a cheque, done 2 loads of washing, emptied and restacked the DW, done the washing up, hoovered most of the flat (still the bedroom to do but can't see the floor in there at the moment  ), called Cathay Pacific about the flights for our UK holiday in November and watered the plants.

Still have a HUGE amount to do but I'm feeling quite virtuous at the moment!

I started my new job last week which went well. It's fewer hours and more money than my old job, which can't be bad :T . They are VERY long teaching days though, so I was shattered when I finished on Saturday.

Bolognaise bake and chocolate pudding for dinner. Yum.

 for Aussielass for being so excited last week about the prospect of another Aussie on the thread! You made me feel very welcome. And don't worry, I'll stick up for you if they start ganging up about the anzac biscuits again :rotfl:

Hope you all have a lovely day - it's bank holiday in the UK isn't it?

ETA: Lucky you Aussie for having a public holiday, we had labour day back in March so just a normal dreary Monday in Melbourne.

  • Hi earlybirds :hello: and to those on the other side of the world. Dull here again but no rain yet - there's a May Fayre in town today and they're usually lucky with the weather.OH says he wants to go down and have a look (I think he really wants a ride on the roundabout :p ) but I'm not sure I can be bothered, it's only a small affair and usually ends up costing me money.

Made a huge batch of Twink's hobnobs yesterday and most of them have gone already

HM pizza for dinner tonight so must remember to go and rootle about in the freezer in a mo to find out the bag of pizza topping.

Oh, have just noticed that it has started raining now :(

    Enjoy the soggy BH all.

    Good Morning

Have a great Birthday - BuffyVampire

Kyle - My DD told me yesterday that Disney are thinking of making Toy Story 3 - love Toy Story not this early mind.

Weather is looking good here today so am gonna wake everyone else in a minute so we can go to our local market which only runs on Banks Hols. OH will get some steel toe cap shoes there as they are half price to everywhere else.

Other than that there is now plans, think OH wants to make another planter as we ran out of space yesterday but did loads of planting. Need to order my strawberry planter online. Really excited.

Not sure whats for dinner, think if it stays nice will have another barbeque.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday Monday

    Good morning everyone,

:hello: Taplady - hope you have a good day at work today!!
:hello: mrs mix - hope you are ok, and have some more news on your dad xx
    :hello: Shez

kyle - good luck with the spider - rather you than me!!!

CM - we will be watching the footie today (DS the biggest Arsenal fan, so huge he even watches the ladies!!!) so we will look out for you, so give us a wave!!!

Tru - any news on the baby piggies yet? Or have i missed it?

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUFFY VAMPIRE xx

:grouphug: and :hello: to everyone xxx

Loving the fact i have a day off today - stayed in bed an extra hour this morning which was a nice treat, and i have peace at the moment to come on here and have my cuppa, before my 2 wake up and take over!!

The weather so far all weekend has been quite nice, ive done quite a few bits in the garden, including cutting the grass and getting on top of all the washing. Today i need to do some cleaning in the house, so will see how much energy i have later.

Made the mistake of weighing myself last night, and i havnt lost any weight at all, so im feeling a bit dispondent, im doing a lot more exercise (walking, but we live at the bottom of a hill, so def not a stroll) and eating a lot less and more healthily so not sure why ive not lost something. Will keep at it this week and see what happens when i weigh myself next Sunday.

Going to make mozerella and tomato tarts (with veg) for dinner, and might have a go at some HM pasties at the same time - they made both on Something for the Weekend yesterday, i nearly threw something at the tv when they claimed to be making Cornish pasties - they put swede and carrot in them!!!!!

OK, ive drivelled on enough - hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh - where are you Haribo and Snowey (and a few others too!!!)

Morning all (or afternoon to some…)

PenPen, think we must have scared TNG off with the promise of putting him on a rota… don’t think he’s been seen since!!!! Maybe he’s found another ‘other woman’ ..?!!

Happy Birthday Buffy Vampire and anyone else celebrating today J

Kyle, poor you, I’d have run screaming from it by now – I usually make my middle DD rescue me from creepy-crawlies….
Aussie – do you think Granny customised the bike herself to match the colours in her dress J ?
Catowen – don’t be too despondent, you’ll probably find the weight loss “catches up” with itself when you’re not expecting it to….

((((((smokey, mrsmix, penpin)))))))) and for those who have been feeling under the weather.

Looking brightish outside, going to a friend’s today for lunch & catching up, DD’s either out with their father or doing their own thing. So no essay/work for me today J Will worry about it tomorrow when I’ve got a study day & kids are back at school!

    Have a good day all.
