morning all,
Lovely day here, have been up a while, DD is making breakfast, and OH just bought me another cuppa. :j
Not sure what we are up to today, probably fit a walk in somewhere, we have got chilli for tea, which OH will make, so night off from cooking for me, he makes a good chilli.
I have got a down filled gillet, which needs a wash so might do that today, its blowing nicely, so might get it dry today.
Happy birthday to those celebrating
Mrs Mix so sorry to hear about your dad, you are not bringing the thread down, thats what we are here for hugs to you xx

Realised this morning that the whole house is surrounded by these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arum_maculatum . I don't have many irrational fears but I *really* hate these for some reason. OH has been teasing me

There are hundreds of them *shudders*
I love them! And did you read this bit?
The root of the cuckoo pint, when roasted well, is edible and when ground was once traded under the name of Portland sago. It was used like salop or salep (a working class drink popular before the introduction of tea or coffee). It was also used as a substitute for arrowroot.
I never knew that. Not heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

Morning all. I'm so late on here! I woke up at the ludicrously early hour of 3am, surfed a bit then dozed off on the sofa and didn't wake up until almost 8am - far too late for me! Now I feel all behind!
SMOKY - (((Hugs))) to you and the LOs.
PAM - so sorry to hear about your Dad; thinking of you both and please don't think you are putting a downer on the thread - this is what we are here for. (((Hugs))) to him and to you.

Happy Birthday to Buffy the Vampire Bat :bdaycake: and Mme Clochard
I hope everyone who is anxious or poorly is having a good if damp bank holiday.
KYLE -good luck with the spider! This is my worst month of the year because it's 'maybug' time    and I am so frightened of them they make me throw up if they come near me! Give me anything else (apart from spiders) like mice, snakes, frogs and so on but not maybugs!
Well, we are just about to go out and visit friends who live nearby for coffee but I daren't drink any more this weekend. I think it's what gave me a bad night's sleep. When DH is at home the kettle is always on and I drink far more than usual without realising; I don't know how he conks out at night and stays asleep with the amount of tea and coffee he gets through but it has definitely played havoc with me! I have told him from now on not to make me a drink every time he has one. I swear the kettle never has time to cool down!
Anyway, dinner tonight is fish and chips - home cooked, of course, followed by strawberries and cream; everything has been prepped so it will be an easy meal.
They had promised hot and sunny for today but it is still dank and a little overcast; I hope it brightens up later.
Have a great day everyone!

So sorry to hear about your Dad. The hospices are wonderful. As are the McMillan Nurses. My dad died nearly two years ago and was in a hospice for the last weeks. He was never in pain as medication was so well controlled and the atmosphere of the placewas so caring and relaxed. He felt "safe" there IYKWIM.
Three washloads are on the line outside. Made DD a special breakfast as she is still revising.
Going out later to get glucose tablets and mineral water for her.
Might do cauli cheese for lunch and maybe lasagne for dinner.
Must get round to knitting a third premmie hat, but been helping DD with her revision.
Apparently when I make a joke about the topics she remembers them better.
Going to get dressed now and start tidying a bit.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

I didn't know that either, 'specially given how toxic the top bits are! ... if anyone wants to come and forage they are more than welcome to take them away... all of them...
They scare me.... OH brought one indoors yesterday   :staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

Pam - so sorry about your Dad, ((((HUGS)))) to you
mioliere - I hate maybugs too - luckily we don't seem to get many of them around here.
Smokybabe ((((HUGS))))
What a lot of gardening seems to be going on today! Don't think I'll be doing any, as still getting tired quickly after my tummy bug - poor DH has it now, and is languishing in bed, but haven't heard him tottering to the loo for a few hours now so that's a good sign. We need to move our car from the "Disabled" space outside, as there will be roadworks outside tomorrow for at least the rest of the week. What fun! As well as DH there are two other people at this end of our road who can't walk very far, so goodness knows where they'll all find to park, let alone the other residents! Anyway, DS will have to move the car on his dad's behalf, and find somewhere to put his own:rolleyes:
My plan for today was to go through all the clothes in my wardrobe and put aside the ones I'm unlikely ever to fit into again, to go to a charity shop. As DH is ill in bed, I think that will have to wait for the time being though!
Forgot to say that the baby grandchildren are much better, thank goodness, though DGD still coughing a lot. They've both been to the doctor and their chests are clear.
DGS 14yo is at Scout camp. His Mum put out 2 warm tops for him to take. One was on a chair, and he forgot to pack it because he threw his blazer over the top of it when he came in from school on Friday. The other was on the arm of the sofa, and he forgot to pack it because it was new and he didn't really register that it was his! Luckily his best friend is the younger brother of one of the Scout leaders, so DD was able to ask her to contact the leaders to make sure they knew DGS had no warm tops - she knew it wouldn't occur to him to ask to borrow one, and his friend's Mum had made sure he took a few extra warm tops in case anyone forgot theirs!:A
My lunch will be some leftover potatoes sliced and fried  - somehow i don't think DH will be having any lunch, and DS won't be up til later as he was helping with a foam party at a club last night, so it shouldn't matter that we've nearly run out of bread. I could put some in the BM but don't want to disturb DH! Anyway, enough drivel for now, will pop back and catch up later.
Best wishes

(((hugs))) to Mrs Mix, I'm sorry that the news was not good, but post your thoughts and worries on here.
I have had a fairly productive morning, Miss Twit is in school, it's the one Bank Holiday they don't get.
I've been to the tip and emptied out the stuff that OH put into my car and I called at work and collected my hoover, shame really as I had not missed Henry at all, but needs must.
Following my thread about my crumbly fruit cake, I've tried out one of the boiled recipes suggested so I've got 5 little cakes in the oven. I use those oblong tinfoil trays, but I'm hoping it the cakes will turn out as I've run out of greaseproof, so I just greased the foil. Oh well, i'm sure OH will dig in with a spoon if needs be.
Off now to blitz the lounge, back soon.
Hugs to all, and looking forward to piccies of baby piggiemouses Tru.

Afternoon all :hello:
(((hugs))) to all who need them, especially mrs_mix and your dad - and candygirl, sounds like you are in the same position, hugs to you and yours too.
tru - hope the guinea-pig babies materialise soon
Having a lazy day here. Am going to the gym for a swim shortly, then am thinking about going to Robert Dyas as they have a really good price at the mo on a Kenwood food processor which I've been considering. Then am planning on paying a visit to the Slow Food Market on the South Bank. Might meet up with brother and his GF, bro lives near where the market is, but they are currently on the road and not sure what time they'll be back.
Flat is a tip, so am doing a bit of half-hearted tidying too, but can't quite bring myself to put the effort in on a Bank Holiday
See you later
Love Rzl xx

Afternoon all !
Lovely weather and we've had a European Market in the town.............lovely atmosphere and even the charity shops opened..........fatal for me as I walked out with two cushions (not needed but I liked them), wire plant trough for window sill and small canvas picture.............all under a fiver so not too bad.
Got a string of smoked garlic from the market and three cheeses for £5 then OH bought some peppery mustard..........could have spent loads but didn't.............massive queue for crepes but I resisted, particularly as OH made some remark about my backside the other day !
I'm off to see my Mum at the care home tomorrow -back Wednesday night so take care all, have a good day and hugs((((((((((((((((:o ))))))))))) to all those who need themMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !
