Thanks for that Lil Me, was hoping I hadn't missed it as OH is making some seriously good bread here, nomnom! Will look for next best offer then.
CurlyCabbage, you could beat yourself up about it, or you could tell yourself you're stockpiling to avoind the price hikes - I know which one I'd do :rotfl:

Vic, big hugs hun, what a nasty thing to happen; I hope Mr S gets back to you with some MOCs at least! (BTW, which supermarkets you using as I keep seeing WW offers on my travels through mysupermarket so if you let me know and which products you like I can give you a heads up on them) xx
thanks Bails:D I use sainsburys but they always have a very limited amount of WW products, Asda have the most and the best and sometimes their ready meals are on the £1 deals like the other day so stocked up on them as much as the freezer would take:D all the WW products I like, never buy their biscuits or crackers(yuck) or desserts but I buy the ready meals, the sauces, baked beans, spaghetti in tins, the WW bacon, the WW bread all that stuff I buy.

I was very disappointed to see how much the tomatoes have gone up:rolleyes: so went to Aldi for their 49p ones (live off tomatoes, love them grilled, in sauces, as a snack with a bit of salt, love 'em:rolleyes: ) they were so tiny:rotfl: :rotfl: just about there for 49p tomatoes they should have been called:rotfl:

Don't you find that home baking now the eggs and flour has gone up is costly to do now? Kids love my fairy cakes and keep asking for them now they have more days off school but reluctant now to bake as carelessly as I did previously because the eggs cost me so much:rotfl:

Hi...forgot who asked for it now (sorry) Beery bacon pie. We used to have it when I was little, my sister found the recipe that we used so here it is.

    Beery Bacon pie.
    serves 4

    2 onions sliced
    1 garlic clove crushed
    6-8 rashers bacon chopped
    2tbsp flour
    175g mushrooms
    1tbsp tomato puree
    1/4 pint brown ale
    1/2 pint veg stock
whatever pastry you use (I buy readymade so its up to you here)

    1. Fry mushrooms, bacon, onion and garlic for a few minutes until onion is tender.

    2. Stir in Tomato puree, veg stock and ale

    3. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

    4. Roll out pastry and place in pie dish, put filling in, put pastry lid on and brush with egg (optional) and bake for 30-40 minutes on 200 C

Actually, for anyone here who is good at cooking, do you think it would be ok if I replace the mushrooms for carrots? my bf wont eat mushrooms and I've got loads of carrots in lol. I'd probably cook them first though... any suggestions?

Hi Pablosmummy, I may have to try that one tomorrow or sunday. Have everything in and will have to pinch a bottle of OHs beer from his hidden stash:D , so no spends there. I don`t see why you can`t substitude the mushrooms for carrots. I substitute ingrediants alot of the time. Just depends on what I have in and what needs using up.(sometimes comes out better:D ) Experiment and have fun!!

MrsM Date and pineapple bars sound yuuuummmmmy. May have a go when I do my next weekly shop as I don`t have all the ingrediants in. Please keep the receipes coming they are sooooooooo great.

Quick edit:BIG HUG Vic, hope you`re feeling better after your unplesent trip to MrS.

    Hi Everyone
Having a NSD today as I'm waiting for the gas man to come and fix hot water:mad:
Have a fruit loaf in BM and later when oven is on for dinner, will make twinks hobinobs - as DD and DS call them and probably cake or other biccies. Last night decided to use up over ripe toms and a brocolli stalk from fridge (forgot to put in wilting celery) added to onion, lentils, butter beans and red kidney beans made a pot of soup. Does anyone else find that when trying to use up food they end up with even more? - so rest is in freezer.
Went to lidl yesterday and spent £30.80 - quite happy with what I got for that, dropped 1/2 dozen eggs - lukily before I put them thru checkout so nice man cleaned up and got me another one, will probably go to ASDA and M&S at some point over weekend. Convenience meal tonight I'm afraid, OH going out, so we are having mccain rustic oven chips - were on special in MrM, and lidl frozen breaded fish (Shearwater I think- really nice and from Peterhead)

could someone please give me or point me in the direction of the aforementioned bean burger recipe - like the sound of these :T
Will go now and do something useful
    X
    :hello:there's me, OH, DS 10, DD 7,
and our deranged border collie - sadly put to sleep Aug 23rd 09  now have our GSD x collie oct 10

Snack a jacks are bogof at sainsburys so I bought 5 packs (10) of them as I eat them all time, was going around the shop thinking what would the grocery challenge people do?:D Do you buy masses of them or do you stop at a certain number, my OH says they are only a bargain if it something you eat anyway (I do) that you are not just buying because they are BOGOF (I didn't) and you don't eat more of the product just because you have loads in.(remains to be seen that one as I have never had that many packets:rotfl: )

I had to get car tax yesterday and the car MOTed today, so I'll have work really hard at coming in under budget to try and offset £165!!!!

The last couple of nights have been storecupboard/freezer meals, I think they'll be a few more of those, before I do a proper shop.

OH'll have to wait a bit longer for his peanut butter delivery, he eats far too much of it, luckily he likes Tesco value stuff but I may still have to start hiding it again.

Sounds yumyum Shaz, quick question. Are the chappatis easy to make?. May try this curry next week, we usually have meat curries, so this will make a change.
