Did my Sainsbury's shop this morning for the fresh food and was chuffed to spend under the £50 per week I have left to last to the end of this month. I bought lamb chops BOGOF (packet of 6 for 6.95) and one of the packs is simmering away as I type in my SC as a Lamb Navarin. I will be taking one portion to my DD1 tomorrow (as she doesn't eat enough meat) and the other two will serve me and DH for tomorrow night's tea. We were thinking of going out, but I couldn't find anything I wanted to see or do nearby and I thought it's much cheaper to eat in, so that's what we're doing!

I also got satsumas BOGOF (one pack for the DD1 again) and my favourite Divine 70% cocoa dark chocolate was 79p instead of 99p so I bought two! We allow ourselves one square after dinner with our coffee and it is heavenly!

I also bought a free range chicken for Sunday lunch and some chicken breasts and trout fillets for the freezer so I am quite amazed that the total was as little as it was.

The savings I made through the BOGOFS and offers came to £9 so added to my underspend from last month and the PMS from April I managed to put £75 into my ISA. I am doing this so I can pay off the mortgage early eventually!

I made a throw it all together soup for lunch and made three big bowls so there's one in the fridge for my DH to have for his lunch tomorrow when I am visiting DD1. (He doesn't cook - and after nearly 32 years of trying to get him to and him showing no interest I don't bother any more!) I also have a batch of yogourt on the go. If anyone out there knows where I can get covers for the pots in a 1970s Bel yogourt maker I would much appreciate it as mine have all perished - strangely I have not broken any of the little glass jars which are all perfect (oops, hope I haven't spoken too soon!)

Tonight we are having my green and gold quiche with new pots and salad for tea. I also bought some strawberries in the supermarket (the basic 99p ones) and am going to turn these into a fruit sauce for the yogourt -yum yum.

As you can tell I have not been at work today and it's really nice to have the time to plan and prepare meals when you're not in a rush! I will have to speak to DH about early retirement! Only joking as with DD2 still at uni and DD1 thinking of going back for more of the same and an endowment mortgage I am stuck till I am 65 - only another 10 years!

I am hoping to clear out the loft over the bank holiday - you never know I might find something to sell there too!

Hope you all have a good one.

    congratulations searching_me on your news!:T

had some sad news myself today which I 've just posted on the daily.
Did my first shop of the month and spent £65.68 at tesco plus £1 for 2 bags of grapes at the carboot. So I've got £233.32 left if my maths are ok!
    Do what you love :happyhear

    Congratulations searching_me!!

well am in boston for the weekend so am searching the cheaper shops i don't get back home, spent £6 in poundland, finally got some pink & whites!!

also spent about £3 in tescos for emergency hobnob supplies to make some for the inlaws, but i'll have enough flour and honey now to make about 8 more batches so not too bad overall.

    see you all later
