    Hi Everyone
All these cakes look lovely and I must try the savoury snacks. Savoury is my downfall rather than sweet.

I made the Lemon Drizzle cake last week which I got told was lovely. (didnt have any). I have some limes so would like to make it with them this time. I have also decided to put some icing on it, so 2 questions.
    1) How do you make icing? (Perhaps I should just look it up in a book)
    2) Could I put some lime juice in the icing to give it a lime flavour?

    Many thanks

Hi, I am at work too (sh..don't tell anyone!) but as you can see it is really quiet at the moment!

Someone asked about freezing peppers (sorry forgot who) - I have successfully frozen all sorts of peppers - great if you only need to use half for a recipe. You don't need to do anything special with them just bung in a freezer bag or plastic container. They are a bit soggy on defrosting so probably best used in a casserole or omlette rather than raw in a salad for example. You don't have to defrost them either if you chop them before freezing.

    Hope this helps.

Normal icing is just icing sugar mixed with a little water. You only need to use a tiny amount of liquid. Use a knife to mix. Add more icing sugar/water til you get the right consistency.

You can add lemon or orange juice/made up coffee/ cocoa powder to flavour the icing. So i guess you could use lime aswell.

Hi Sosh - I live in Welling so to make a change from Danson Park we go to Greenwich Park, just love the view from the top of the hill looking down over London, the O2 etc etc. Just prefer the calm feeling in the Park there.

    Hi Scotsaver,

My Mum and Sister both live in welling, so I know Danson Park well. You're right about the calm feeling in Greenwich Park. As soon as you walk in, all traffic sounds seem to vanish. Lovely!

Popped to the village yesterday to pick up a prescription and got two large chicken breasts from the local butcher for £2.20 - I'm a veggie so have no idea whether this is good value or not - seemed to be to me - what do you think?
Cook meat rarely for the BF but have relented this week and will make quorn enchiladas for me and chicken ones for him on Thursday.

Had lovely tea last night - not posh but quite clean and fresh if you know what I mean - quorn fillet thingy, lots of salad including fresh beetroot and cucumber (gleaned from my mum!) and new potatoes made into a potato salad - was yummy and just hit the spot.
Have found that the dog will eat anything at all and is now sporting a beetroot coloured moustache and has devoured a big wodge of potato salad!:p

Just an easy tea tonight - "fake" bacon, waffles and beans - have stuff to do after work so its a "shove it in the oven" tea for me!

did my shop in Aldi last nite, spent another £18.33  but that should be my final shop until the end of the month and as it's my birthday on Friday, I think I will be doing a lot of eating out this weekend (at other people's expense)....but alas, think of me on Friday afternoon (having a crown fitted) and it was the only appointment I could get!!!

    HI Guys,
just popped in to say hello and i hope that everyone is well, i`ve just managed to catch up with loads of pages and i`m doing really rubbish at the moment.

I think i really need to spend more time on here to keep myself motivated and keep track better too, w**k hasn`t helped recently either as i`ve had some rubbish shifts and when i get really tired all i can think about is sleep :o

I`ll update my siggy when i`ve seen DH and prised the latest receipt off him, he`s bought lots of wrong things this week and so he`s reluctant to give up the reciept and we`ve run out of milk and toothpaste this week too

My June challenge should start this Friday but i might delay it a week to get organised as at the moment i need a day off just to catch up, aw well hopefully things will look better soon, the price rises are really depressing me so i need a real kick up the bum to get back into a more positive frame of mind.
    Catch up later.

What size tin did you use or was it 2 tins? bit like a sponge with something in middle? Can't tell from photos but it looks delicious it is my DD 10th at the end of June and this would be perfect.
    Thanks
The size tin is 8.5 inches with a deep depth of 2 inches, no not 2 tins just the one non stick deep cake tin, it really is my absolute fav to go back to because you can guarantee it rises and always looks good, never crumbly etc

As for asking about the topping for it I used cooking chocolate supercook I think it is called, comes in blocks, melted in the microwave and poured over with a knife when the cake was cool, the gems were Mr S brand 24p for a large bag:D
