Sounds like you're getting plenty of exercise Seren, certainly more than the recommended amount
I've done 20 mins on the cross trainer today and 200 reps with the weights, would have done more but had to pick son up early as his sports coach didn't turn up for his club  I'm chomping at the bit to get out on the bike again. Poxy weather. Arghhhhhh.
In this month's Zest magazine one of the experts says it's no use training on a cross-trainer if you are running a marathon. Does anyone know why cross-trainer and running supposedly don't mix? That surprised me.
Hi Rockrat, thanks for introducing yourself! It is great to hear about the success you've had, look forward to hearing more from you
BB meant to reply earlier, I really like your attitude towards food, it's similar to mine in that if I want to totally relax and enjoy lots of food, I bloomin' well will! It's a case of trusting ourselves that we can repair any damage, that's really starting to click with me now and I get the feeling it is with you too. MrBB is lucky, he has a headstart on his weight loss as he has you there helping him!
I was really shocked that Dragon/Bails can't get the medication you need because you cannot afford the prescriptions. If your income is below a certain level don't you automatically get an exemption card? It's crazy, and it's not just that is it - prices are going up and up on absolutely everything

Just got back from the gym, it's been raining heavily here this morning and I was expecting the running club to be cancelled. But it brightened up by late afternoon so I was hopeful. However I got down there to find both the instuctor, and the substitute instructor off sick  so I just did my usual routine in the gym.
Next week, unless I can swap my shift, I won't be able to go. My leg was aching after my set so a rest day due for me tomorrow.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Hi Missyg
I think it's because the crosstrainer isn't high impact like running therefore if you can go 40 mins on the crosstrainer you won't necessarily be able to do the same running. I can go for ages on the xtrainer without getting out of puff but after 5 mins running I sound like a heavy breather.
Mind you I could very well be wrong!
I wish it was otherwise as I've got a crosstrainer (did I mention that!:D ). Did 20 mins so far tonight but will prob pop on for another 15 in a bit.
Been very good foodwise despite my Mum doing her usual best to tempt me with goodies (not you Wendy - I know you wouldn't!). Had a sneaky peak on Mum's scales this morning and I'm hopeful of a loss tomorrow when I weigh myself on my set. Fingers crossed!I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -
Oh sorry where are my manners? Hello Rockrat and welcome.I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0
-
FFM, you're right it is 3500 cals = 1lb but those on the chart are daily calorie needs to achieve 1lb loss in a week so it's 3500/7 = 500/day (is that where you got the 500 from?). As I understand it, we are creating a 3500 calorie 'deficit' across 7 days for a 1lb loss, 5250 for 1.5lb and so on.
With your figures I put you at just under a STS for lightly active. I don't work it out to tenths of a lb, if it falls between say the 1.5lb and 2lb I'll call it 1.75lb approx.
Hope that helps?
Thanks missyg and bails, I get it now. You're right, I was working on weekly calories and had forgotten that your figures were based on daily calories
I shall have to keep watching the figures to see if I can see a pattern in my losses/gains.

rockrat hello and welcome to a great thread. tagz like you I've had a sneaky peak on my scales and I too am hopeful bout tommorrow at SW. Have been sooooo good and will be very dissapointed if its not a loss.kpc hope we can get to meet at the weekend ,if its at the Bishops Palace my OH will be interested to go because he oversaw quite a lot of alterations and restoration work there a few years ago and hasn't been back since.Have written the details down anyway,p.s.is it sat & sun ?l:T Never Too Old to learn :T0

sat, sun and mon i think wendy - i'm arriving friday night at any rate
welcome rockrat - hoep you like our thread - you sound like you've done great on your so far!
fininshed my major presentation for work which is a huge load off my mind. Am fightingh tetemptation to eat bad things now for no good reason so i think i'll take myself off to bed now - out of sight and all that, especially when i'm weighing in tomorrow. started doing my business 2 nights a week which will keep me out of mischief, and my sample basket is getting ever heavier so i suppose it's good exercise too.
that prescriptions things sucks. my mum has heart disease and was refused free prescriptions. she got hte prepay one and they kept forgetting to tell her to renew it - she got 18 months out of it in the end. it sucks though.0 -
Wow! Big reality check for me! Decided to take the plunge and ask my OH to take some 'before' pics of me. Well I knew there was a reason I hated photos but these really take the biscuit. I cried and I'm still upset! I knew I was overweight but when I look in the mirror I still see someone who is a bit plump but not too bad. I am huge!! Seeing those photos has made me realise how big I am to others. At 5ft 3 and 13st 5lbs I know I'm not exactly Twiggy but still it was really a massive suprise. Time to get my head out of the sand. I can tell you it's made me more determined to shed the excess!I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0

tagz it was brave of you to have the photo's done, dont be upset pet,you will be that pleased when you get to target that you have some before pics, and you will get there as you sound so determined. You'll be proud to show people those photo's and say "this is what I used to look like ", so dry your eyes hun ,its all downhill[weightwise] from here, good luck with your weigh in hugs from mummy wendy xxxxl:T Never Too Old to learn :T0
