questions for excercise knowhow person
2,128 calories =
26 Apples!6,325 kgs. =
3 Elephants!(plus about 240 cals from last night)
Is this a reasonable amount of exercise for a person per month? (figures from april)0 -
NHS guidelines say about 30 mins of physical exercise every day. If you are trying to lose weight they suggest up to about 60 minutes on 5-6 days a week. These guidelines seem perfectly reasonable to me
I only measure mine in time/intensity, but I estimate 150-250 calories per half hour depending on intensity (very intense exercise will be higher). I never go by the figures on the machines as I think they are overly generous (just my opinion).
2,128 to me would represent 8-14 half hour sessions so that's perhaps slightly on the low side compared to NHS guidelines, but all exercise is good and even things like active housework and gardening count too

hello peeps:hello:
This week, I have decided not to weigh in. I have eaten vast quantities of food over the last 4 days (and enjoyed it) and am starting day 1 today and I just feel that for me, to know how much I have put on, albeit temporary, would for the first time be discouraging. So ain't gonna do it. Have put scales away for the next week. So a STS for me please delly, even though I haven't:D . Anyway, the fab news is that Mr BB, totally unprompted by me, has asked if I will help him lose weigh the SW way:j :j . He need to lose about 1.5 stone - his bmi is currently 27.3. I am really chuffed and it has made me get back to planning ahead more vigorously and be more focussed myself. So we both started day one together this morning. This is a very positive step for him, as he has been in a real midlife crisis slump for a while and I'm hoping this might help his tiredness and is a sign that he is ready to change. Taking it one step further, I refused to participate in scrabble today unless he agreed to a deal:D . Got him at the point when he's agree to anything really:rotfl: . So his side of the bargain is that everytime today he thinks a negative thought about himself or his life, he has to replace it with a positive one.(Which will average about 1 a minute I should think. Good starting point is that for the first time in 5 years I got him to say that he deserves to be with someone as fabulous as me(normally it's a case of 'I could do so much better than him,' which is nonsesense of course).
Bails -total sympathy re benefits: it wouldn't kill someone to apologise on behalf of the system would it. And paying for prescriptions is no joke for you and dragon. Dragon - I know this is still alot of money, but you know you can get a annual prepaid prescription certificate for £96 ish? My parents buy me one foe xmas every year:rotfl: . I have so much medication I couldn't afford individual items - but this way, after 14 items you are quids in if you know what I mean.
Off to look for cakey sw recipes: don't want OH to feel deprived, or 'on a diet'.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

The problem is I generally have about 12 prescriptions a year! just under the "make it worth it" threshold! Life sucks lemons sometimes!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Hey everyone!
Had a good day shopping today. Bought 3 tops from River Island and 2 bits of jewellery from H&M. Really unusual purple top that BB would love im sure! I'll see if its on the old website. It is but it uses flash so i dont think i can link direct to the top. I did have a look for dresses, might try TK Maxx nearer the time. They had some passables in there.
Dragon: That must be well gay. I dont understand why you cant get them free though. £7.10 is a rip off! I had to fork that out the other week. If i dont really need one im not going to bother.
My boyfriends in the paper this weekIn uniform
Coooor. He and 2 others conviscated (sp) loads of alcohol from a party. Did you know that any alcohol the police takes goes to the hospice? Thought it was quite nice.
Im going to the pub and for a meal out with the Lingerie girls. Should be a laugh! Full of fat im sure but the shopping must have burnt off some calories!0 -
hugs bails and dragon. The system sucks. It always appears to me that the people who need real help can't get it and those who don't do, if you now what I mean. I had the same sort of problem when DH was made redundant from Rover, we couldn't get any help with kids school meals etc because I was working (albeit on a menial wage) we had to fight tooth and nail to even get a little help from a council tax rebate. I was glad he was fit to work and managed to get another job. It must be hard when you are ill.
Well, I phoned work as after coming on here this morning I fell asleep and have slept all day, so am obviously not 100% better yet. They weren't expecting me till Thursday anyway, so I will have another days rest tomorrow and get back to it then.
No idea what to have for tea or to do for the family. Will go check the freezer, I think.
Grannynise, I hope your exercise (!) counts cos thats what I do too!
Catch you all later, enjoying catching up - have missed you all xxIf you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0 -

Thanks Vix! As I said it is now at the stage where I have told the Doctor that there is no point in giving me a prescription as I cannot afford to fill it. Last lot was for anti-biotics and they called Mark at work to ask him to pick them up as I really needed them (he didn't realise I wasn't filling the scripts because I couldn't afford it, he has now offered to get them all for me but that is not really the point!)Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

I don't think thinking is included :rotfl:
But take the 30 mins/day, you could include:
- 10 mins brisk walk to the shop & back
- 10 mins sweeping the patio
- 10 mins on the stepper
If you do something like that every day, and then if you're trying to lose weight, add a swim & exercise class and up the walking a bit, there's your 6 hours0
