Must be fate as this is the first time I've ever looked at this thread and having read Ajaxgeezers post it seems that it's the perfect time for me to join.

Have had many failed attempts at losing weight, but have always been successful when putting it on - strange that!

Currently I weigh 16st 11lb, a disasterous combination of hormone treatment, other medication and stopping smoking helped me to pile on the pounds as I became more and more depressed and now that I have put on this weight I feel even more depressed.

The biggest problem for me currently is evenings when kids are in bed and I am bored so any suggestions gratefully received. I have 7 yr old twins and I am single but quite limited with things to do to get out and exercise with kids as one of them is in a wheelchair.

I have gym membership but can only go when kids are at school and unfortunately when I have appts for disabled child, they take precedence over the gym and as he has just had a major op the appts are coming thick and fast.

I really need help and motivation. I know I need to be fit and healthy for my kids but I comfort eat and can't get out of that habit when the kids finally go to bed.

I have always been overweight, even when I was a child, so I know it's going to be hard but I'm being realistic about it all and if I can lose 5 lbs a month I'd be happy with that for the next 6 months, then see where I go from there.

The film was o.k katie, when Mr big lets carrie down at the altar everyone was crying, put me off for a bit but it is New York and it is all good in the end:D people were clapping at the end:D

    FELINE welcome:D

I am not going to be on here for a bit, not until I get my head sorted anyway

4lb gain for me this week ate for 2 days, sat and sun and now seem to have excelled myself not only do I put 1lb on a day when I let go but this time 2lb a day, just perfect:rolleyes: can't type, speak or come to terms with it, I am doomed to forever this circle and forever this diet, in a foul mood and unable to talk, concentrate on anything other than 4lb gain, I have every intention of doubly trying but wonder when this will stop?I have lost every own of self confidence I had, looked for it under the bed,:rotfl: around the house:rotfl: but lost it, gone, no chance of the bikini now,(pathetically it took me 1 and a half hours to try the damn thing on, kept doing other things and putting it off) clothes are a nightmare, this is a nightmare. I feel if I do more exercise which I can't I would be stick thin but then again I read about missyg cycling, walking,wi-fit to maintain and even if I could do all that I wonder if it is worth it? I am fed up, with the catch 22, the loss, the gain, the maintain, the struggle and the lack of food.

    Victory hun xxxxxxxxx

Don't let one poor week ruin all the good things you have done. It can be a vicious circle to us weak peeps but we know the victory boot camp and your determination will win. You know why you gained and you know how to lose -they are positives because they put your fate in your own hands.

    xx

Efrieze, looks like we have two more for the chart: *Bright-Idea* (not happy about that, it might alphabetically go above me :D) and FelineFantastic

Hi, I've just been here a couple of weeks and have just posted my first loss.It feels great to be able to share it.Like you I have hormone issues and I'm also a comfort eater when kids are in bed (single parent too) I have been logging on to net on an evening and staying away from tv as this is when I eat.I've had a bowl of grapes to pick at or chopped red peper.Takes away the pangs.
I've been walking a couple of times per week with a friend. We've managed 5-6 miles at a time and It's great cos I don't really notice it as we're chatting all the way.I have alot of weight to loose also but for the first time in ages with the support on here I feel I will get there.Good luck to you :)

  • Thanks Mollymop5, one of the things on my list is to try to go to bed by 9.30pm, early I know but my son is up at about 5.30 every morning anyway.
I don't have a telly in my bedroom and find myself staring at the telly in the living room watching nothing in particular until 11 most nights and unfortunately as my living room/kitchen is open plan it's pretty much a recipe for disaster.
Well done on your loss, hopefully that will be me in a couple of weeks time

Victory - Don't let this small gain beat you, you are strong and have lost a huge amount of weight so far. Think of those extra pounds as your ememy and you are not going to let them win. Live up to your name and be victorious!!!!

Bright idea - Do you have PC at home??? Try the huge variety of survey sites out there, surfing the net is so time consuming and you can't graze while your clicking! Try getting an exercise DVD and do that every night, or take up sewing...you simply can't munch when you have a needle in your hand. Good luck.

What about an exercise dvd in the evening? I find that not only do I enjoy that time to myself when DD is asleep, but in the comfort of your own home you can shower etc afterwards, feel saintly and it sort of curbs your appetite. Plus after you have done it, you are more motiviated to be strong on the food side too. And no babysitting required which is always a bonus!

Sometimes I find exercise is the only way I can refocus on being good with food as I don't want to ruin the effort I put in by sticking my head in the kitchen cupboards looking for something to nibble on (I do this anyway, but sometimes I just look!!!)

I think the most important thing you have said here is 'the lack of food' - perhaps you should give your appraoch a bit of a shake up and try to approach your intake slightly differently. There are many programmes which enable you to eat a lot of food and still lose (or maintain weight). WW and SW allow a lot of free food and so it is always possible to fill up on things. Calorie counting seems to be a way of incorporating a lot of variation (in moderation) into your diet. Perhaps use this time to have athink about apporaching what you are doing slightly differently and see it as a challenge to lose or maintain using a different regime. Worth a try?
