Well I am back for day 2!

I have bought a smoothie maker ( 2nd hand as moneysaving!) and loads of fruit off one of those drive buy garden stall thingys :)

I am going to attempt to make veg soup tonight and have found quite a simple one that even I should be able to do lol.

I am feeling really positive and am looking forward to my first weigh in :)

To the lady that has lost 4 stone - what an inspiration!

    Kittyx

Well done Kitty! Hmm a nice easy veg soup is to frylight a load of onions until they are slightly brown - then just chuck them in some veg stock and let it simmer away!

I have a dilema! How can I convince my overweight family to buy healthy food? Both my parents and teenage brother are very overweight. I'm in the normal range but slightly heavier than i'd like to be. It's so hard to stay on a diet in this house because of all the rubbish that gets bought in here!
So, any advice to make them change their ways?

Ajax, are you hoping for a Missy/FFM sandwich?

    ummmm.....

No advice really sophie, if all the evidence out there isn't enough to convince them, what can?

You can't really sophie - they need to make the decision themselves! When it comes to you see if you can stay away from the high fat/cal items - can you buy fruit etc for yourself and snack away on that (grapes etc are great because you have to nibble away! either that or raw carrots etc)

Sophie - thats the main problem i have in my house. Teamed up with me being a fussy eater. I get no where near to having 5 fruit and veg a day. Infact today ive had 0. I probably have about 2 a day normally.

Its hard when its not you buying the food! I dunno how to change it, i guess reducing the portion of what you do eat and refusing the puddings is a start.

Thanks for the advice. Vixarooni, baked beans always count as 1 portion aswell, even though they don't taste at all like a veg!

Wouldn't it technically be an Ajax sandwich?! :p

No criticism taken BB, feel free to use me as a disincentive for lower BMI's any day ;):p Glad you're feeling better today, I never like to think if you or anyone else on here struggling. Looking at your meals, you really have SW down to a fine art I can see, looks fab.

Only up to 200 cals after lunch Dragon? Woah! Was it salad for brekkie and salad for lunch!? Get some food down you, girl! ;)

Tagz - people still cook with lard?!!! Crikey.

FFM, I think my scales are OK because the wii weigh ins tend to broadly agree with them (although the wii only works in full lbs) and also I can feel any weight gain myself. I think the solution lies in the exercise vs intake balance. My body might be thinking: hmm, she's only done light exercise the past 2 days, any minute now she's gonna go on a mad one, I'd better store up... :p

20 miles cycling before work?! Yes definitely bonkers! How long did that used to take you? When I did that the other week I'm sure I was out for the best part of 2+ hours (did have a stop though). You must be (or were) quite the morning person! :D

Well done on getting the tix Bails, something to look forward to!

Hiya Kitty, let us know how you get on with that new smoothie maker!

Sophie, I'd suggest try to start with just one thing, for example making sure there is always a full fruit bowl? Have a small tub of light spread available as well as butter. Or instead of sugared/chocolate cereals get just one healthier version each time a food shop is done. You can't really make someone else change, but hopefully they will try to accommodate the fact that you wish to eat more healthily?

It must be very difficult if you're not in charge of the shopping, but your parents should be supporting you as much as possible in something like this. I'm always delighted when my son makes healthy choices (which is often - he's very good) and I try to encourage that as much as possible without going over the top about it.

In fact he's asking for food right now - I'll be right back!

I use the word 'frock' beanie so if you are I am too:D . I probably say it in a jesty way though but I like the language sound: it feels like a more fun word than just 'dress'. wikepedia describes a frock as a type of dress made up of shirt and blouse... er, so not a dress then??
sophie - I agree with the general advice given. Have you any money of your own so you could buy a few extras - wholemeal bread if you are into toast, or a healthy cereal. Very difficult for you with temptation around. Is there anyway you can offer to cook once a week, and perhaps try a healthy versions of the food they like: HM pizza, or HM burgers and beans HM chips done in the oven with just fry light? I don't know how old you are ut is it feasible to cook a few of your own meals each week too. If you all eat together it would be a shame to lose that family together time though. If you just need to lose a bit, is upping your exercise a possibilty? Choose something you enjoy, or have never tried before. Let us know what you try and do. We're here to support you though.
And the bad news is that this afternoon I discovered the brand of teacakes I've been treating myself to are more than twice the syns of the generic ones listed in the sw book. Eeek.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Basically - yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:, I have now had chilli prawn stir fry with rice (and some cheese) and I have reached 1,300 kcals so having reached over 1,000 I am happy (even though I am supposed to eat 2,450 per day at the moment )
