Brighton Belle - I'm 17 so it's very feasable for me to cook, and I cook sometimes for my family but only my Mum ever ends up eating it! It has to be in a curry for either of the men to touch it! The frustrating thing is that if I do buy healthy things out of my own pocket and put them in a cupboard they just get eaten in addition to the unhealthy things, not as a replacement that and as there's 3 of them versus me, they get eaten quickly!
I guess i'll just learn to eat around them again. Frustrating as it is they won't listen! I may start swimming again, I used to go twice a week but had some health problems which stopped me. May give it a go again though :)

Feel for you sophie - you have obviously thought of everything. Curries can be done healthiy though so may be worth exploring that. BUt in general it's clear you are up against it. The swimming idea sounds good. Anything else take your fancy?(are you at college? - they often have alsorts of sports clubs going on) It doesn't have to be the gym or jogging - see if there is anything 'fun' around (rock climbing, canoeing.. now I'm stuck for ideas:o : great way to meet new people too.

    Hi all

Hope everyone is keeping well - I'm sorry I haven't managed to post or keep up with the thread for such a long time now. I'm really missing the chat.

Efrieze - Sorry to be a pest - I forgot to post my gain for last week which was 1lb so could you update the chart so my total is correct.

I also stayed the same this week. I really need to get my backside back in gear and get motivated again.

That is why I need to start getting back onto this thread more. You all fill me with inspiration and motivation. I just wish I had more time (and could log on at work again).

lo all. day two of my event got rained off so back early. actually, day one got rained off if truth be told. My house smells like a wet sheep as i try to air all my authentic kit and the tent is pitched inthe back garden. Had some quality time with oh over the weekend too - we sloped off to the pub and shared a couple of bottles of wine and a pie - it was lovely! But blimey, what a manky weekend. had a severe weather warning on late may bank holiday last year too. What with that and marauding horses running through our camp, it was all very exciting. Must confess to some extreme naughtiness with a medieval apple fritter recipe too. After we'd deep fried all the apples we then turned our attention to everything else we had lying around. We had deep fried cheddar, stilton, bread, grapes, cooked chicken and finally salami.

i am a very bad girl indeed. off to watch giles coren on the iplayer. He is very cute and proper foodie. a girl could quite take to a man who gets so excited about pork pies . . .

kitty, i like your quote about knickers! chin up! ROFLing at delly taking different shoes to her weigh in.. Jules, wow, great pic and a lovely dress. Finally, kit and sophie, take a look at the recipe thread linked to on page 1 of this one, i'm sure you'll get some great ideas there. There's an especially good sw curry recipe that may be worth looking at.

    Hello :)

Hope everyone's had a good bank holiday weekend, despite the awful weather.

Just a quick post to report in with my result this week, which is STS.

Jules - great pics, you look amazing.

Sorry for the quick post - it's taken me ages to catch up on all the chat, and I haven't got any more time.

    Have a great week.

    Hi Sophie

When I was your age I really wanted to lose weight but I was hindered by my family too. They weren't big themselves or unhealthy, it was just that my parents owned a wine bar and we had what was on the menu each day. Lovely food but not the best for losing weight and if I tried to cook anything else they wanted to know what was wrong with their food or say that the ingredients were for the menu so I had to have what was already made. In the end I exercised more and that seemed to help. I did however go down the stupid road of developing bulimia. Please whatever you do don't even think about it. My health suffered (as did my teeth). I think though that the fact you have joined this thread means that you are more sensible than I was at your age.

You say that if you buy food it just gets eaten by the rest of the family along with everything else. I know you want to help them lose weight too but maybe if they see you losing a bit they might follow suit. How about keeping the healthy food you by in your room or in a box in the fridge/cupboard. Explain to them that you have bought it and would they mind not tucking in. Do they know you are worried about them? Are there any sports/activities that you all enjoy?
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

Well I erm have eaten my first ever attempt at soup...... erm it was a bit like baby food! I think I need to try a more watery version... I could always grout the tiles with it... I am sure that would be money saving!

So off for a chicken and noodle recipe in the hope of it being more appetising. Even the dog turned his nose up. At least I can say I had my 5 a day as it contained pots, suede, parsnips, carrots, onions and garlic.
Am looking forward to trying my smoothie maker tomorrow for breakfast. I am a bit peckish now and might have a cup of soup and a couple of rice crackers to stifle the hunger pangs.

Its great to be able to come on here and almost 'blog' my day...I hope to keep it going for a very long time!

Can someone give me some examples of lunchs on SW please? Nothing that needs cooking as we generally just have sandwiches. Green and red ideas would be good with as little use of healthy extras and syns as possible!
    Cheers.

Green day salad based on new potates (cooked night before alongside your meal)and very low fat mayo with loads of toms/chopped apple/salad/chives/basil. red day - subtitute meat for potatoes. Perhaps cook an extra roast chicken next time you do one and chop it up for lunches and freeze in portions so you can just get it out the night before. For added help, there is also an sw forum on here, under 'money saving in mariages/families/relationships'. (That's not to chase you away!! Please stay:D - but that would double your help).
Sometimes evening meal left overs make super cold lunches the next day - like the cold roast veg I mentioned early - mix with meat or pasta( all pre-cooked night before). I know you said nothing that need cooking though but that is a little trickier, as bread quickly uses up your heb's. Quick to grab would be 2-3 quorn sausages (2-3 mins in microwave) a hardboiled egg (keep supply in fridge) apple and hea of cheese. Muller lite yog, piece of fritata cooked night beofre ( like a pastryless quiche - eg, 2 rashers bacon chopped, hea cheese, spinach, nutmeg added to beaten 3 -4 eggs and cooked in oven for half hr.) Sorry, I do plan ahead for lunches that suit us so I tend to do cooking. Pays off for us. Hope someone else can offer ideas - I'm sure they will tomorrow.
    Night night peeps.

Wouldn't it technically be an Ajax sandwich?! :p

20 miles cycling before work?! Yes definitely bonkers! How long did that used to take you? When I did that the other week I'm sure I was out for the best part of 2+ hours (did have a stop though). You must be (or were) quite the morning person! :D

Yeah, defo an Ajax sandwich :rotfl:

I am generally a morning person, I would cycle between 1.5 and 2 hours in the morning - a great time of day. At that time I worked in a supermarket so my start times would change depending if I was on lates, so plenty of time to take in the countryside before being locked up in a window less cash office for the rest of the day - a bit like prison I guess.

The cycling came to a bit of a halt when I moved from Norfolk (nice and flat) to Nottingham (where did those hills come from?) to do my Poly course. But it is clearly still in my blood and great to blow those cobwebs out.

When I used to go to the gym (last time I was fit) I loved the spin classes, I haven't joined the gym again because I have wasted 2 whole years membership in the past and I'm not sure I could justify the expenditure 'cos I'd probably find lots of excuses not to go - whereas my current cycling is free and reduces petrol costs into the bargain.
