Vix, when I was in my 20's I could eat anything I wanted and never gained weight - I hardly ever weighed myself but when I did I was always around a nice healthy 9.5 stone. So no you're not abnormal, unless I was at your age too!

Don't forget calorie needs reduce with age. So a female maintaining weight perfectly at age 20, would most likely be gaining weight if she had the same eating habits at 40 (all else being equal). I think part of the reason I gained weight is because I wasn't aware of this and just assumed I'd always be able to eat whatever I wanted.

Myself and other ladies here have also had kid(s) and I know my body has changed since then. I don't know about others, but after I stopped breastfeeding my son that's when I noticed weight would go on a lot easier than it used to before. I actually lost weight without trying while breastfeeding, but my weight crept up and up after that!

So Vix make sure you enjoy every minute of being able to eat what you want without gaining weight :D It might not always be that way (though of course I hope it is for you!)

brighton belle - thanks so much for sharing this with me. I do feel better now. I'm sure your cravings are as much to do with your illness as anything else - would I be right? It's good that you can stick to it for 2-3 days at a time though, keeps you on a level maybe?quote]

Thanks delly - I'm really glad i made the effort to reply. Yes, I do think it may well be due to my ill health - yesterday I could barely function and sometimes extra food does make a differnce, even if I've eaten plenty. I did feel better after the bourbons. Also, I've just checked my drugs and they can cause weight gain so may account for the ridiculous hunger I sometimes feel not that long after a good meal. I'm hoping it is as you say - If I can stick to plan for generally I'll sts. Yesterday, I stuck perfectly to plan either side of the biscuits, so didn't go into 'I've blown it so what the h*ll' so hopefully that will pay off.
Fab news re your 2lbs off :j :j - that has to be a great incentive. Well done. Maintaining has it's own learning curve, but re your comments about missyg , don't forget, missyg has chosen to go for a low bmi/ weight within the 'range' possible, whereas you can choose like me to settle for a higher weight within the 'accetable' range and it maybe not such hard work. Not a critisicm missy - I know you are enjoying the challenge and number crunching and lurve the exercise. Had a good laugh at bails sneaking off to gag herself:rotfl: . Bails, I am sure I am not alone in valuing your persistant courage, born from true caring, at checking folks on here and ensuring they're not going off into the realms of masochism.
Jules - fab photos, it's great to 'meet' you. I agree with others that both photos are great, but as missy says, the second one has that extra sparkle and you look a vivacious curvy woman in that frock(:D ). You do look god in red.
Loads more posts to reply to but need a cuppa first...

I've had a bad week! Still not 100% (keep going dizzy) ill-violated-dead-smiley-5393.gif so have not done much exercise and to top it all it's my second son's birthday today and we have had family and friends round each day since Friday, so lots of cakes and nibbles. Definately put on this week but don't want to look unntil Wed weigh in to see how much! Seeing the dreaded outlaws on Friday so I have to be extra good until then. MIL makes not so diguised remarks about my weight. I'll be very good when I'm there though, she frys everything in lard and never serves vegetables. Just fatty meat and pots (usually cooked in lard)vomit-smiley-544.gif. I go to the local Tesco and bring my own food for us. Love grossing her out when I give the kids pizza!:rotfl:

Sorry you are still not well tagz, I hope you feel better soon.

    Good luck at the outlaws!

Does anyone have any menu plans I could steal for help????
    cheers!
Kit, just finishing off my fortnightly one now - will post it for you in next half hr. Planning ahead does really help in sticking to a plan I find (i lurve sw by the way) and cuts down on energy expenditure in the end (and aids finance:D )

I can't help you with menu planning as I am not doing SW but I agree with Brighton Belle that it really helps with a) the weight and b) the wallet!

I have just had lunch and I am up to 200 kcals for the day so far  - I hope the stir fry for supper boost me over the 1,000!

here's some menu ideas as promised kit: but if you go to the first post on this thread there are links to the recipe section for loads more:

    Red days evening meals:
Cottage pie (lean mince, mushrooms and onions(fry light), Worcester sauce + beef gravy granules(1 syn each max) in 300ml water, in fry pan)
Topped not with potato but mashed celeriac/swede and carrots combo – delicious and ‘free’

Roast meat (chicken or turkey generally) skin removed after cooking.
Veg roasted in oven: chunky chopped: carrots, red peppers, butternut squash, corgettes, onions. Add frylight and herbs if you want (I use a shake of Chinese 5 spice) Do enough veg for leftovers to be have for lunch next day. All free.
Add roast pots if you really want them (28g =1syn) I cook mine with one tbsp olive oil – put in lge tupperwearbox with parboiled pots and shake – covers them with oil and roughs the edges up. 6syns for oil between you & DH (I tend to have roaties with roast chicken thighs, green beans, sprouts and brochli & gravy (syns)

Left over chicken from roast – use in curries/salads or HEB portion in risotto on a green day (ditto curry if you want rice with it)

    Green day:
Pasta mixed with 0%fat fromage frais and basil, chopped toms 57g salmon each (HEB) & 14g cheese (half an HEB)(This doesn’t sound much cheese, but over each prtion I find the balance of flavour enough).Add garlic mushrooms (I use 10g butter for these as a treat = 1.5 syns for each of you) OH doesn't like salmon so I use crisp pieces of bacon for him instead.
    Chickpea stew:
Red onion/2 garlic cloves/400g chickpeas, 1 small tin kidney beans, cumin, tumeric, black pepper, 250g cherry toms 56g(5 syns) of chorizo optional for added flavour or 85g shredded ham as an HEB. Serve with rice.

Lucky you Delly, enjoy it for all of us! Where did the cool sun thing come from in Dragon's quote??

The sun smilie came from my original post bails - I got it at planetsmilie.com. It's ok dragon - I'm sure we'll get more than our fair share of rain this summer as usual.

brighton belleb - definitely get yourself out and about with your little trolley. I noticed at tesco this morning that loads of people weren't using plastic bags - I guess the message is getting through!

Just picked DS up from creche. I was going to do some housework but figured I'd spend some time with him instead so I'll probably not be back until after his bedtime.

have a great bank holiday folks!
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.
