OK don't faint everyone but I am going to go out for a run. Yes, a run. Are there any walking/running peeps on here at the moment who could give me an idea of how many steps make up approx 5k? Just a very rough idea will do. I'll try to run/walk this distance, or do about 45 mins. My pedometer is a bit rubbish so it might not be accurate.

Fantasic news- Well Done Beanie on reaching your target weight :j

Froggygirl hope all works out for you :grouphug:Welcome back Marion, glad the land of tulips was enjoyable :)Efrieze to be honest I keep weighing until I get two consistent weighs!! Actually I dont, but if the change is 1lb, I try again, it tends to be the way you stand on the scales Well done on the 4lb loss mate :j and extra well done on the running :j

Great to hear your going out running Missy Remember to warm up and warm down and stretch as well. I might even mention a hot bath if its your first one for a while as you may well ache.
Regarding steps to KM - According to activity monitor which is an app on my Nokia N95.

    8759 steps = 3.97miles or 6.352km (1378 steps per 1000m)
    5795 steps = 2.63miles or 4.208km (1377 steps per 1000m)
    2039 steps = 0.92miles or 1.472km (1385 steps per 1000m)

    Average step per 1000m = 1380

Therefore 5000m should be approx 6900 steps

    I think!

Wow - well done beanie on getting to goal!! Are you going to do anything special to celebrate. I tell my kids that when I reach goal I am going to appear naked in the Sun newspaper. They laugh but a small part of them thinks I just might do it!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have been really good this week and am suddenly starting to feel a little more energetic. I am going for more walkies with Charlie and am really enjoying it! I wonder if normal people feel like this? Its weird but I like it:D .

I had my favorite breakfast this morning - cold cous cous with fresh berries and a yoghurt to mix the whole thing together. All free on green and saves me my 2 B choices for later on. Making lamb and root vegetable casserole for dinner tonight with a couple of sweet potatoes thrown in for my HEB. Oh yeah - I am also starting to be more interested in cooking and am enjoying vegetables and healthy stuff more too!! Is that strange or what??

Anyway I am feeling really confident and feeling that I really will do it this time!

Can't wait to hear if Wendy went to class!

    Love
    Marion

    Hi Missy

Sorry but I've never run with a pedometer. I run around my local park which happens to be exactly 1 mile each lap.
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

Thanks for all the advice all, I do feel like I am a different person with different ambitions now and in some ways i feel like am supporting my bf mentally I always ask how he is and never get asked in return.
My heads just a bit all over the place most of my friends are both of our friends so its difficult to talk to any of them hense the reason am talking about it here. Going to go up to my mums later this week and have a chat with her she met my dad when she was young 18 and then split up a few years later so she must have gone through it all.

Froggy, you sound incredibly sensible and I hope you find a solution that works for you. There has been good advice on here; it's also great that you can talk to your mum who has been through a similar thing. Take care and let us know how you're doing x

I used this site www.mapmyrun.com so that I could work out a 5km route. It is really good (although you have to register if you want to be able to log your runs etc which i have never bothered doing). Cheak it out. Gosh - I sound like a runner (if anyone really knew me they would know how odd it is to think of me as someone who runs 5km regularly - still feel like a fraud talking about it!)

I've just been attempting to catch up a bit with the old posts - congratulations to beanielou - I'm sooooooooo jealous!

I have come across some HORRIFIC photos of myself  I promise to post "before and after" shots once I reach my target! I might have to pixelate out my face though - looking at the before ones is SHAMEFUL! LOL!

The other thing is not to listen to people when they say you've done enough - they just need to get used to seeing you without all the extra pounds. You are the best judge of how slim you want to be, and you can always use weight tables, BMI etc to decide if you're the weight you should be.

Lois, I can see where you're coming from on this and I also see it from another viewpoint - whilst it is very important to listen to yourself, the opinions of others can also be helpful. Sometimes what we see in the mirror is not how we actually look - that could be down to negative self image or still seeing the old you before WL (lots of peeps on here mention that). Trust in yourself and also in the opinions of others closest to you for a balanced view. I would be wary of using any kind of weight/BMI tables as a rigid marker; we are all very individual and simply do not fit well into 'boxes'.

But you do whatever you want. Just move on once you've made your decision ... it won't matter in the end, the gain/loss is there whether you measure it or not, and spending too much time thinking about the ups and downs just isn't a happy thing to do. I'm with BB on that one.

Wendy, I'm with Granny and BB here. You know yourself, so be honest with yourself - which one will help you achieve your goal the best? Then do that x

Before I forget again, welcome to Bensmum, great to have you with us! Look forward to hearing your answers to BB's questions so we can help you some more.
