    Hi all,
Kinda new here after stumbling across your board whilst looking for TESCO bits and pieces - Dont ask - PMSL
And I must say you are a very inspirational group, saw Starlight on the first page! WOW is all i can say... So...
I need some advice, after popping your page on my desktop and bookmarking the page, I think i need some guidance on how to lose some weight after having my first baby - Ben- who is now 10 months. Feel like the time is right to do something with my 13st 5 frame :( Im really unhappy and need to know what diets do well, Im hoping to get a WiiFit board soon - when they are ever in stock so that might help and I am going to look through the recipe section in a bit and satrt making a shopping list!
Wish me luck and any tips to lose weight much appreciated x
welcome2.gifbensmum. You've come the right place for support, info and some fun along the way. I'd say general advice would be to find a way of losing weight that suits your lifestyle. The variety on here show that many differnt methods can work, if it suits you as an individual, be it through a club or club method but not going to classes (WW,SW,RC) or calorie counting or healthy eating.
We've all been were you feel you are now so well done on taking the first step to changing that(but lots of congraualations on your lovely son first of all.) We can offer great support here as well as learn from you as you find what works for youI.
'm a great fan of SW - I can eat plenty (I can't do going hungry) but others are doing so well on the previous mentioned methods. Some have upped their exercise a little, some of us can't due to health issues. Tell us a little bit more about what you like to eat now and what changes you think would help. 2 tips: use smaller plates and don't cut out all treats - this has to be sustainable in the long term.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Wendy: big hugs first of all. If you know a gain will make you comfort eat, I would say don't go and don't weigh yourself at home either. Then just focus on getting back on track for a week: this is excellent pratice for maintaining. I am deliberately not weighing myself at the mo as I know after the last week I will have put on more than I want to see and it might discourage me too much: solution - don't torture myself by weighing. Perhaps you need time to prove you can stick at the weight your are now and not put back on: us maintainers know that fear and are learning how to manage that and it is not always easy but the support here makes such a differnce. SO KEEP POSTING AND DON'T DISAPPEAR. You've had a lovely week with deserved treats and life will always have those weeks poppping up. Give yourself a break and give yourself time to get it off.

Just a quick flying visit guys - I have had a quick look and I simply can not believe how many pages there have been since I went on my hols!

I will try and catch up but I fear I will just get further behind:rolleyes:

Holland was wonderful and the weather was great. My Mom's funeral (in Canada) was on Friday so I went to Church in Rotterdam and said some prayers for her. Although I am not religious my Mom was a devout Catholic (hence my 7 brothers and sisters:eek: :D ) and I know it would have made her happy, and it did make me feel better.

Anyway I got back home and went straight back to my SW plan to try and do a little damage limitation which seems to have done the trick as I got weighed this morning and lost 1 whole pound! I am very pleased with that because I normally put on loads when I am away. I blame it on the beer:o !

    Love to all

Hi Wendy - my advice would be to drag yourself to class, grit your teeth and face the fact that you might have had a gain and then stay for the talk. I know that sounds very masochistic, but skipping class could be the first step on a slippery slope, i.e. miss class this week, have another week that's not quite to plan, then next week you go through the same turmoil, worrying about getting weighed and having gained...

I'm speaking from experience, having lost 6.5 stone myself and getting to target, I thought I could maintain without attending class. I couldn't, and then having gained 1 stone I told myself I couldn't face going to class and admitting I was wrong, and believed I could lose that stone on my own. Eventually one stone has become 4 and I'm nearly back to square one.

The other thing is not to listen to people when they say you've done enough - they just need to get used to seeing you without all the extra pounds. You are the best judge of how slim you want to be, and you can always use weight tables, BMI etc to decide if you're the weight you should be.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Wendy, it's a dilemma and a very personal choice as only you know if a gain is going to demotivate you and upset you - or make you more determined.

I weigh in, no matter what, even if the gain is going to be huge. That's just me, and if the gain is an expected one I pretty much laugh it off. In fact I wear it as a badge of honour sometimes :p (It's the undeserved ones that tick me right off  )

As BB has said, she has a different approach which works better for her :D From what you've said about comfort eating and being depressed I might tend to agree that BB's approach would be better for you - but just for one week while you get back on track ;) You mustn't miss two weeks ;)

Wendy I think I'd try to go this week and then just focus on losing the extra over the next week. If you look at it the other way around, the following week could be a massive loss when the gain this week goes away. IYSWIM.

But you do whatever you want. Just move on once you've made your decision ... it won't matter in the end, the gain/loss is there whether you measure it or not, and spending too much time thinking about the ups and downs just isn't a happy thing to do. I'm with BB on that one.

just double checked in the food optimising book ajax and couscous in free on a green day it only has to be sinned on original days which doesn't apply to you ajax as a veggy

Sadly, SW in their wisdom decided that couscous isn't free if you use it to make cakes - see this thread written by a SW consultant on the SW support thread.

Your book may be out of date Wendy - I still have books from 6 years ago when I first started doing SW which show corned beef and canned macaroni cheese as syn free on the relevant days, but SW changed the rules as people were 'abusing' the foods and not losing weight. Don't forget SW offer a money back guarantee, so they don't want any food abuse going on! :D
