wow beanie! you have worked so very hard to get there, we are all dead chuffed for you!

bummed about hte cous cous cake as i really liked it. Although, it was quite easy to eat the whole cake . . . .

welcome ben'smom, my l'il bro is called ben!

froggygirl, I'm so sorry that oyu are having issues. I went through a rough patch with my oh recently and the support on here really helped me a lot. Lots of good advice from different angles really helped me. So how can i not return the favour?

i would strongly recommend moving out and getting your own place. It will be tough to find somewhere where you can take your cats but you will be able to do it. I really think that everyone needs to have lived on their own, even if only for a short time. YOu need to know that you can do things for yourself and manage by yourself. Then you are out of that trap of being with someone because neither of you can manage on your own and you can be with someone because you want to be. Or not as the case may be. i hope you find your way to the decision that is right for youxx

Hi Marion, good to hear from you again and I'm glad you enjoyed Holland!

Congratulations on the loss, that's a very decent result considering you were away. Are you sure you were enjoying the Dutch cuisine enough? ;)

I am glad you were able to go to Church and remember your Mom in such a lovely fitting way :)

Happy you're back safe and sound!

Sadly, SW in their wisdom decided that couscous isn't free if you use it to make cakes - see this thread written by a SW consultant on the SW support thread.

Your book may be out of date Wendy - I still have books from 6 years ago when I first started doing SW which show corned beef and canned macaroni cheese as syn free on the relevant days, but SW changed the rules as people were 'abusing' the foods and not losing weight. Don't forget SW offer a money back guarantee, so they don't want any food abuse going on! :D

    LL

........thanks Lois, that's how I understand it too. Cous cous has two 'uses' - either as a rice substitute or a flour substitute. As a rice substitute it's free, but as a flour substitute the syns are fairly punitive. I don't understand the science either, but well.... we have to play by their rules :(

I need some help and support here please , I am sat here thinking of reasons [no excuses] not to go to SW class tommorrow , I know it will be a gain with a day in York a b/day and 2 BBQs plus a few little glasses of wine well alright then big glasses.I don't want to face the music . I feel really down about it , keep telling myself dont go and get it off for next week as i know if I see a big gain I will comfort eat [theres no logic in that is there] my OH and 2 DDs want me to stop as they say after losing 5st I look so much better ,thing is it was 6st , and a stone has gone back on and if I stop , I can't face being that overweight again,I am so depressed about it what shall I do ? face the music or give myself a week to get it off , HELP:confused:

.... wendy we've all gone and had gains. The best thing about gains is how they spur you on for the next few weeks. You know the reasons, take it on the chin and accept that you have to lose the occasional battle to win the war. You know you'll come out on top in the end xx

Beanie, well done on hitting target. I'm so proud of you - life got in the way sometimes but you did it :)

I don't have a sweet tooth, but when I get a craving I find pineapple is great for a zingy sweet treat. As long as it's chopped from the fruit, and not from a tin swimming in syrup!:D

Sue-UU, a while back someone on here suggested bran flakes (dry) with raisins and if you go easy on the raisins this would provide a sweet hit with a bit of bulk as a healthy snack? I'm sorry I can't remember who it was that suggested it. What about something like that and a big drink of lemon squash or similar? I know it doesn't exactly compare to tea cakes...

Thanks so much Raph and missyg. Those are great ideas and I really do appreciate the help from you both. I'll certainly give each a jolly good try, maybe intermittently would be good. Anything's better than feeling so awful after those darned tea cakes!

    Thanks so much.

Well done Molly. OH and I went for a really good 4 mile walk this afternoon and I really feel good about it all today, whereas yesterday I was a bit flat (I wish!) about weight and how to resist having sweet things at night. I've got those endorphins going at least so who knows what tomorrow will bring. Good luck with your walks Molly.

  • Hi everyone again,

    Beanie Well done!!!!!:j

Wendy Wow! You have lost 6 stone!!! What an amazing achievement. Don't loose sight of that. My aim is to loose around 5 1/2 stone and I will be over the moon if I manage to get that far. I can understand why you are upset over the gain and whether or not to skip a SW class is a very personal choice and other posters have given excellent arguments for both sides. What I do think is important though is to keep perspective and not allow things to get out of control. Everyone will have gains, its how we deal with them that is important. Also, remember that it has been you and you alone who has lost the weight. Yes, you may have chosen to take advice from SW and people on MSE, but all of that has empowered you to achieve a fantastic weight loss yourself. Perhaps you should consider why you still choose to go to SW (I'm certainly not saying don't go - just perhaps write down all the advantages and disadvantages of going at this particular point in your life so that you can assess whether or not it is a useful tool/resource for you right now. If going when you have had an (inevitable) gain puts you in a position where you are likely to put on more weight, I would say that it wasn't particiularly useful, so are there advantages that counteract this? Do you think that you would put on more weight if you didn't go? If so, are there any positive(and realistic) steps you could take to prevent this?)

Sorry for rambling, hope I don't sound bossy, I just wanted to throw a few ideas around. I personally couldn't cope with a slimming class (not the right personality - I'm certain I would end up putting a lot of weight on if I tried) but I have friends who absolutely swear by them and are very successful at loosing weight. I like to keep my weight loss very positive by giving myself treats (fairly big ones) at 7lb intervals, with little ones inbetween sometimes too (I love bath bombs from Lush!). I even have a jousting course lined up for when I'm closer to my target :D ! Best wishes with whatever you decide.

Ben's Mum Hi, I'm new too and also want to loose baby weight (My son's 18 months now. I've been very successful with low carb in the past so I started that again last month (didn't want to do it whilst breastfeeding!). Lost almost a stone since then. It works, but you do have to be very strict. I don't eat any pasta, rice, potatoes, bread (my biggest weakness), cereal. Its mostly eggs, meat and veg (lots of veg), with certain fruit for treats (berries mainly). I occasionally snack on wholewheat crackerbread with something like cottage cheese. Its not for everyone, but I thought I'd give you an idea of what I was doing.

    Must sleep now!

    Bye!

    Hi Sue

I like you had a craving in the evenings, just a thought for you to consider, I made these at the weekend, I can assure you, they do hit the spot:

    Hobnobs

    8oz sr flour
    8oz sugar
    8oz porridge oats
    8oz margarine
    1tbsp golden syrup
    1tbsp hot water
    1/2 tsp bic soda
mix flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan stir in bic soda and add to dry mix, mix well, make smallish balls and put on greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork, 180oc for 15 mins, cool on the tray, you just want them golden in oven not brown.

I have just one in the evening, and although I'm a novice re cooking, I'll say it myself, there delicious :rotfl:

Hi Missyg & Katie, thanks for the continued support re my cooking challenge, I've said this previously, but I cannot believe the difference in my food, simple yet truly tasteful dishes compared to the crap I used to eat.

I've not managed to do any exercise this week due to my injury, however, I can't wait to weigh myself on Friday, I do feel I've lost something as my tummy is not as "Swollen" as it used to be :rotfl:

I just want to say, I'm not being ignorant if I don't mention someones name, I just find it difficult keeping upto date with all the member names.

Anyway, for now peeps, keep fighting those pounds :D
