    Hi all,

I just moved to a home where the existing provider was scottish power. I rang to ask to join on the fixed 2011 deal and was told "no", it had been withdrawn and was not available. End off! I then joined them on the standard tariff and once I'd registered online, I switched my tariff to the 2011 deal!

I called SP to check it had gone through, as it only said "fixed rate" and didn't specify the year. The guy I spoke to said they've been unable to speak to anyone about the fixed rate plan, unless it is specifically mentioned by the caller, and then to advise it's not available. However, he did say that if I switched online it would be fine and it would be to the 2011 tariff. I think this is a cert because the 2009 tariff is pre-order and so we couldn't have signed up for that before it's released.

He confirmed the prices as being:

    NSC: 225Kwh @ 15.292p (16.0566p inc VAT)
    remainder @ 9.025p (9.47p inc VAT)

Standing charge: 15.45p a day (16.2225p inc VAT)
9.025p per Kwh (9.47p inc VAT)

Now to cancel my transfer to BGas as I'd put in for a transfer to them (20% cheaper...for now!) before I realised I could still get the fixed 2011 tariff online.

Not sure if this would apply to anyone else but when I was changing my plan on the SP site, it only offered the 2011 fixed rqate when I selected to pay by monthly DD!

    Good Luck all

Anyone know when the fixed pricee untill 2011 offer closed?

I applied on 13th May for this and got a ref number. also £75 tracked on quidco.

When we went on holiday on 23rd May I had had no communication from Scottish Power, no emails no letters ewtc.

Got home last night and had a letter confirming I had agreed to join Scottish Power but no mention of the tarrif and as yet no emails.

the letter included a Price booklet, but thsi is the Feb 2008(v2) booklet, no mention of fixed prices tarrif

However if I check the status on my application online it says I am on Fixed Price NSC OL product, but they have dated my application as 26/05/08. Quidco tracked on 13 May 2008.

I am reluctant to call them because this may jepordise the quidco, which is the part that makes this pay in the short term.

Any ideas folks? Hence wanting to know when they closed the offer. If it was afrer 26/05 I may be OK, but just trying to understand if I have been tricked.

    Cheers

EliTom, I think it closed at a different time depending on whether you are a new or existing customer.

As an existing customer I was able to switch after the 30th May and I have not heard anything to say the switch hasn't been done. BUT, IIRC existing customers were given an additional week more than new customers to switch.

You will be put on the tariff which was quoted on the day you signed up otherwise the system would be open to all sorts of abuse. The 2011 Fixed Price Energy Offer is dated February 2008.

I am an existing customer and switched to 'Fixed until Feb 2011' on Monday. All gone through and account shows this from Tuesday. Submitted online meter readings to generate a bill (for one day's use!!!) and confirm my tarrif.

I was on the Pricefall tarrif (fixed until Nov 2008) which was a lot cheaper, but I figured that my summer usage would be very low and that there would be no good deals available in November, so this was the latest date I could risk waiting to switch.

At least I know what my tarrifs will be for upto the next 2.5 years AND I can switch without penalty if I've got a bum deal as their new penalty charge doesn't come in until their new Feb 2009 'fix' comes in.

I was in precisely the same position as Withabix and made the same decision; i switched a few weeks ago because I suspected that with the talk of increasing energy prices the Fixed to 2011 tariff would be withdrawn soon and it would not be around in November. SP have now reassessed my direct debit and increased it to £96 from £55 but I would prefer this to getting in arrears. Also i give them readings every month via the website and they seem to generate a bill every month

After my previous post that SP told me over the phone the fixed 2011 had finished, I've veen reading avidly on here and checked again online to find that its right there in the drop down box.

Double checked before signing up and it is there - don't know why the guy on the phone said it had finished.

Still a niggly in the back of my mind that I'm now paying a surcharge and the prices won't actually go up - but thats the gamble I guess !!

The new 'September 2009' Fix prices are the same as the old 'February 2011' fix prices, so I reckon we made the right choice!!

That suggests an imminent rise across the board I reckon, especially with the rising oil price.

Just a short note, once you give a reading/bill its nearly instant, ie about 24 hours! They do say 3 days though!
