  • Okay... good effort... rather than look at it as £200 odd extra per annum, maybe better thinking in % terms... i.e: 24% increase per annum to go on SP fix 'til 2011...

Fuel prices are forecast to rise between 15-45% over this winter (if you read Martins piece on fuel prices & there is certainly no reason to think this will not be the case... just look at petrol  )

Not sure what the £1.50 per month extra is about...

Only you can decide whether it is worth the extra to fix prices for the next 3 years... can't see fuel coming down in a hurry... ;) if it does the SP 2011 fix is on a revolving 28 day contract so you can always shift if fuel prices do come down enough...

As for switching to other providers I would personally do exactly the same process to find out actually how much you are likely to save... I tend not to believe the comparison sites having sat down and worked things out myself... remember to compare like with like... ie: if you want a fixed product then don't compare to cheaper variable rate products which may well rise swiftly after the summer...

    HTH...:D

Chris do you think its relating to the standing charges for both fuels per month, cos they wont known how much units you are using, also £3 is an exact amount

Really not sure... it could be comparing the fix rate with their standard rate at the time of going to press... it is a bit vague... does say though that the rates you pay will be the ones shown in the booklet, with no other mention of that £3 (2 x £1.50)...
