were on Scottish Power dual fuel
last quarter bill (dated June) is
    gas - £226
    elec £115

Uswitch indicated we can make a saving of £283 with Atlantic, and about £280 with Eon (£55 quidco CB).

Question - is it best to stick with SP fixed price until 2011, or is best to switch today?
    thanks advance

Hi, I`m aftr some more advice please if anyone can help... I feel like I have been sitting here since Friday... got a numb bum.

We are with Scot Power for our elec - we pay as and when the bills come and our annual usage is 6343. we are suplier S number 13 (think it might be the old Manweb.
Just realised they do a fixed rate until 2011 and was wondering if it may be worth staying with them and transferring our gas over from British Gas - usage 22323kh, our DD has just increased from £42 to £74 (we owed £155 as the DD didn`t cover the cost of gas used - I have just paid this outstanding amount incase we move our gas - the DD should be about £60 now)

Should I ring Scottish Power for a quote? or should I go thru one of the sites, sorry really so unsure about all of this? they give an 0845 number for existing customers but 0800 for new ones!!! They also seem to do different rates ie standing charge / no standing charge!! OMG it is so hard. Can`t seem to get a quote on any of the comparison sites.

Npower qote via u.switch is £1439.62 for dual fuel fixed to 31.12.2010
    e.on viq u.switch is £1283.15 till 1 oct 2009

Any advice to point me in the right direction would be great.

    Thank you so much

Surprised you had kept gas with BG as they are the incumbent, so dearer than competitors.

About a week ago switching to Scottish Power Price Fix using QuidCo or switching site was withdrawn, you could then apply over the phone (no cashback for switching - saves them some money) and now we are hearing you can't switch over the phone, however if you are a current Scottish Power customer then you can transfer your current service over to Price Fixed by going into your account online. That would give you the electricity price fixed, but you'll still be stuck with British Gas for the gas. I suppose you could phone up and see what they say. Otherwise just switch the electric over to price fix and maybe look elsewhere for the gas, such as Ebico (these are who I have my gas with being currently the cheapest and SP was a quite a bit dearer for the amount I use, so only transferred electric to them).
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Didn`t realise it was withdrawn, was going to try them in the morning - will most probably cost me as much in phone calls as the electricity bill!! thanks for letting me know.
Didn`t realise it was going to be such a hard job, or maybe I`m just making it hard for myself going into it too much.

    Hi
We're with Scottish Power and fixed online a couple of weeks ago, i've just been on their site and the option of the fixed rate till 2011 has now gone, it doesn't show up in the options, i'm assuming that it has now been withdrawn.
  • I think you can still get the deal as an existing customer... it probably won't show up as an option if you are already on it... ;)

    Hi,

I was on earlier and it gave details of the offer and rates etc - seems they are out to confuse us all. I will ring in the morning but on the 0800 number as I am not paying for the pleasure of holding on again for another 20 mins as I did on Friday. Glad you got in on the offer - I may be lucky it may be too expensive, but I`ll try.

Yeah, a few have been saying if you log into your account it still has the option to switch it to the Price Fix.

How long it will remain there if it's still there now I don't know as they seem to be slowly withdrawing it.
