PP, I would be delighted to pay you £1000 and come and collect your sofa on Friday, 6pm suit you?
Of course, you do realise that I'll have my money back in 14 days time after I have done my dispute via Paypal for the item not arriving and you'll have..... ah yes, I see nothing.
Of course, if people scroll down the listings and see you are charging £500 for delivery they won't even bother looking at your listing anyway!!
I know not everyone is out to rip people off but some people are. I used to sell undies on eBay, new ones of course, it was where I run my business from however you would not believe the number of people who buy items, wear them and then return them as a 'poor fit'. Yes, even worn pants!! I've had bikinis back after holidays from people asking for a refund, or items that have been cut at the seams, items with deodarant marks under the arms - all so they can have a refund as they have worn it for the occassion they wanted. They can do it because they know they can return the goods and tell Paypal they never got them and get their money back.
If you have had a large number of dealings with eBay/Paypal nothing surprises you and you get to know how the lovely scammers work.
See you on Friday!! Paypal money is on it's way now.0 -
PP, hey, ad very nice it is too, designer and carved out of solid oak - and a snip for just £85 plus P&P of £100. Paypal money is on its way over!!!
PS. The free suite I got from you is gorgeous by the way.

Maybe the answer to collections is to sell photographs of the item with the buyer then able to collect the real item for free.
Photograph of 3 piece suite for sale BIN £250.
You are bidding on a photograph of a 3 peice suite. The photograph will be sent via special delivery, Once delivery is confirmed we can arrange for you to collect the actual 3 piece suite free of charge.0 -

Thank you for my £300 photograph of a 3 piece suite, I am returning the photo to you tracked and will require a refund under the Distance selling regulations. I will provide paypal with the tracking details that show I returned the photo and will expect my refund in due course. Oh and by the way I will of course neg you for selling me just a photo and leave such appalling star ratings for you that you will be out of business in a few days.
The suite I collected? What suiteI never read any further down the auction than the bit about the photo.

Apart from one current listing , I have no other large items to sell, so it's not going to be a problem for me.
Actually, I do have one but I'll probably offer that through a user group who will appreciate it
Other items i will list with PayPal and fair p&p, if the buyer wishes to collect, tough luck it won't be on offer..0 -
that photo thing got me thinking
if somebody collects thier item can the seller state in the listing that a photo will be taken of them receiving the item if they wish to collect in person and the photo must be signed saying this is me ive received it
if they are not scammers then they should not mind
am i simplifing it to much
would it work do you thinkI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -

no,this gets raised nearly every pp vs collection thread
you could supply dna evidence with the queen as a witness, still wont win a chargeback
as for your photo, your proof of posting would not tally with an item of weight so a buyer could lodge this as evidence and pp request you rpovide proof0
