Or..my newest idea (don't laugh) I currently have items on my front drive with a sign saying 'please help yourself' ..save me the trouble of going to the tip. Fingers crossed that someone wants my bits and bobs including a rather nice CRT TV . In the summer or on nice days I usually have boxes of books out there with a sign telling people they can help themselves but if they want they can leave a donation to the charity I am on the board of, (details are stated if people require the charity number and receipts for donations). It doesn't raise a lot, but every item taken means one less item I have to charity shop or lug to the dump.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No soo, it's a great idea, I have even thought of (and you might want to do this) putting all my stuff on a lawn on a Saturday and advertising on Freecycle that they can help themselves (watch what you leave out by mistake, LOL!) but it's a fab idea. I did not think about the chrity bit but I have started giving loads of stuff away on freecycle and if I see something I want or if there is something I need then I do not have to feel bad about taking it.0

The tV is still there
but several books have gone this morning and I've got £1.50 for the charity so far.
Advertising the mini yard sale on freecycle is a good idea though, thanks blue_monkey.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. So if eBay does not want the 'oridnary joe' then who do they want? Business sellers use the site as an aside to their main outlets and if they are serious business sellers they will have their own dedicated site. So if the 'ordinary joe' selling his tat goes, then that will just leavethe sharks and rip-off merchants!
Personally I think it is time to reclaim eBay for what it was started for. I really hate the greed behind these companies thatcannot just operate a successful business profitably without having to squeeze the very last penny from everyone there, it disgusts me.:mad:0
