Which reminds me it's time to start a rice pudding. Without coconut milk this time (it was a dream!) but with some nice double cream instead, half of which I'll save to slip into a bread and butter pudding (made with some cinnamon bread) later in the week.

    Sounds divine!
May i have you Bread & butter pud recipe please? (this time i have checked the index and yours isn't there..... :p )
  • Mmmm squeaky - I have the remains of a cinnamon bread & butter pud in the fridge, but I didn't put cream in it - cos I didn't have any, though I did put marmalade. Maybe I'll get to eat the last portion up tonight - but I doubt it somehow :(

Rice pud - must try it with coconut milk, cos although I suggested it, I've never actually done it :) Wonder if I've time to start an ordinary one now........(wanders away to see)

    Zziggi:

I used the bread and butter recipe posted by someone else in a recent thread (I'll find it in a minute and edit it in) but I used up half a tin of evap milk made up into the required amount with ordinary milk and I reckon it only needed half-a-dash of nutmeg. I left it to soak for an hour as advised in a different recipe and I put marmalade on the bread as well. I also did half and half of the sugar between white and some soft demerara.

I also made sure that the top layer was all marmalade side up so that it caramelised in the oven.

    This was with HM bread.

My next one will be about half and half ordinary HM bread with Cinnamon and Sultana bread and, of course, some proper cream.

C&S is made as a standard loaf mix with 3 tsp cinnamon added with the other ingredients and 3oz (75g) sultanas at the beep.

As for the rice pud with some coconut milk - really REALLY nice.

Edit: The Bread & Butter Pudding Thread

MATH - my kids love yoghurt, but won't touch the natural that I make. Do you flavour yours? What with and is it smooth? I have a feeling that DS2, who would live on yogs, would eat them if they looked and tasted like Petite Filous.

For the kidz to eat I add 2 tbsp of sugar and a dash of vanilla extract to 2ltrs of milk. This is what the kidz call plain natural yoghurt;) although it is a bit sweet for me and I plan to wean them off the sugar over time but at the mo the memory of over-sweet processed pink gloopy shop-bought yoghurt is still fresh in their minds. They have a tub of this in their lunch boxes and a futher tub with HM jam, coco pops, cheerios, raisins etc to make their own fruit/crunch corners.

Yoghurt I make for cooking and adult eating I add no sugar just vanilla.

Hi TM someone (sorry, I've forgotten who it was) suggested Crusha to flavour HM yogurt, I think that it would have to be very thick to start with but sounds good
