  • Well, I finally dragged myself from this chair and tackled the kitchen. Wasn't much washing up anyway, just a couple of plates, cups and cutlery as we only had fishcakes and salad last night and I'd washed up all the prep stuff yesterday before dinner. Have made my marinade paste and coated the chicken drumsticks, so they're sat in the fridge until we have dinner tonight, and cleared up after.

Done litter trays and hoovered/mopped kitchen floor and gave bathroom a quick wipe round as I got out of the shower. Still need to dust and hoover carpets but they can wait till later, or maybe tomorrow morning ;)(needs doing by then though as CPN is due round tomorrow afternoon :D )

DS is due in from school any moment so will help him with any homework he's got, oh and I need to send him to the veggie shop and PO too, just remembered! Better go do a list actually as they close at 4pm!

    Catch you later

Gosh, spent all afternoon making biscuits with my kiddies, forgot how much fun (and mess) it was. Looked through all my grans old handwritten recipies from nz and make Anzacs and Hokey Pokeys. Prob sound weird to you, my OH said Hokey whats.....isn't that a song??? The Anzacs are full of coconut and rolled oats so a real energy booster and the Hokey Pokeys are all done in one pot on the hob - YAY, less washing up. Anyway, 2 hours and too many biscuits later I'm glad to say the kids love em :D no more shop bought for me. Am running the bath now as we are all COVERED in flour etc and could do with a good scrub

I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle

    Here goes..................

    ANZACS
    1/2 cup plain flour
    1/3 cup suger
    2/3 cup cocnut
    3/4 cup rolled oats
    50gm butter
    1 TBSP golden syrup
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    2TBSP boiling water

Mix together flour, sugar, cocnut and rolled oats. Melt butter and golden syrup. Dissolve baking soda in boiling water and add to melted butter and syrup. Stir and add mix to dry ingredients. Take spoonfulls and rol into balls, place on greased try and flatten with a fork (I always just use my fingers). Bake at 180 degreesC for about 15 mins or until golden.

    HOKEY POKEY

    125gm butter
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 TBSP golden syrup
    1 TBSP milk
    1 & 1/2 cups plain flour
    1 tsp baking soda

Combine butter, sugar, golden syrup and milk in a saucepan. Heat until butter is melted and mixture nearly boiling, stir constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool to lukewarm. Sift in flour and baking soda to cooled mixture and stir well. It will go really think at this stage, more like dough. Roll spoonfulls into balls and place on greased baking trays. These spread quite a bit so space them well. Flatten with a fork and bake for 15-20 mins at 180 degreesC.

Try and hide them before the kids scoff them all, mine are greedy little beggars ;)
