afternoon all
I finally finally got to put my notice in at work todayI start my new job on Haloween and it'll be money saving as I will be working regular hours and won't have to rely on Taxis to get me through the dodgy bits of town! roll on season ticket for the train! It's also more money
so I'm going to take off the extra (the increase in pay and the extra from decreased travelling costs) each month and stick it in my savings account - if I never have it I'll not miss it!
So thanks to MSE (and you lovely old stylers in particular) for the first time in my life the only debt I have is my student loan and my mortgage (both of which are at lower interest that my savings account) and I've got a reasonable amount in savings- I'm also eating better, and feeling better as a result.
Thanks everyone!
Making soup tonight with the remnants of my organic veggies and the defrosting chicken stock I have in the fridge at home.Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
Hiya everyone :hello:
Been to mum's this morning - cleaned upstairs and given the front lawn it's last cut of the year, hopefully.
Have collected DS2 from pre-school and at long last he's starting to eat my HM bread - had one full slice before telling me he didn't like it
Have 4 extra kids for tea tonight. I didn't know what time I'd be back to make a meal, so we're all just having meatballs, mash and veg for tea. I still have lots of bread & butter pud in the fridge so will make a pan of custard too.
I'm having my lunch now, ham and cheese toastie on yummy HM bread and have also just eaten the first piece of my banana and walnut loaf I made on Sauturday - absolutely scrum-a-rooney
Must get round to sorting the OS meet - again, no-one is ringing me back (as promised) about the accommodation. That REALLY annoys me - they obviously can't be bothered enough for our custom, so will look elsewhere. Twice I have been promised a call from the manageress, but, hey, their loss, not ours. I'll find us all a nice hotel somewhere else and to heck with 'em!!
Ok, catch ya later. Lots of housework needs doing (for a change)

I had a very productive & enjoyable weekend!!
I stayed home for most of it. Sorted out & took photos of things I want to sell on ebay, the rest I took to the charity shop (I actually did it then & there, rather than leaving it til "I could be bothered"). Went to the gym to make use of my gym membership, made apple crumble with the apples my parents gave me from their tree (they are gorgeous!!), watched DVD's, and read books I had.
I had to do grocery shopping & get some toiletries (typical everything runs out at the same time isnt it!!), so did end up spending around £30 at the weekend, but not too bad, as the things had to be bought (and I got the best deals etc). Also did washing, tidied flat, and got some sleep!!
Even went to the gym this morning at 7am!!!!!
I bought Mike Gayle's new book on Friday, read it over the weekend, and have just sold it on ebay for £8.50 (bought it for £8.99) so quite impressed with that!! (wouldve got it from the library, but they didnt have it and I couldnt wait!!).
Have a good monday everyone.

Afternoon all
I have had a horrible time with my computer this weekend. Inadvertantly loaded a virus which has caused havoc, and have spent all yesterday getting rid of it and trying to get everything running properly again. Why do some people get their kicks from sending viruses? Anyway thanks to the techie thread, I sorted it.
I made some wonderful sour dough french couronne ( if you want the recipe let me know). I started the started last week and finally made the bread today. It's better than anything I've managed to buy in the shops, and i shall use this recipe when I want to impress.;)
Due to the above pc problems I haven't got a lot of house work done this weekend, and I worked all day saturday, so I shall spend the rest of the day cleaning and tidying.
Lovely to see queenies name back again.

Hi All,
Am feeling pretty pleased with myself today, a little more productive than normal. The washing is on the line, the beds are stripped, the washing up is done and put away, the kids have even had lunch! Big achivement for me.
This morning I ordered my slow cooker from Amazon, the 6.5L Morphy Richards, I know its big but then so is my family. Was only £24.91 with free delivery, for some reason more than £10 less then the 3.5L one, why is this? Anyway, that pleased me, can't wait to get cooking now so am popping over to the recipies thred to pick up some tips. If it works out well I might ask for a breadmaker from Santa!
Off to do more laundry now and clean the bathromm - URGH.
Bye,

hi all
had not too bad a day. tutorial and lecture this morning, washing hanging up to dry, lasagne for dinner all made and ready to be popped into the oven when we get hungry later.Got some sainsbury's basics garlic bread to go with it as a treat. Havn't mastered my own version yet!
Weekend plans kind of fell around my ears due to my sister and her selfishness. In the end I lost my temper and managed to fall out with her rather significantly, so am stomping around the house in a foul mood feeling sorry for myselfOh well, nothing changes and I'm sure she'll grow up eventually.
Right, got a book on contracts to get my head around before the pub quiz this evening. If I manage to do all my work I'm going to treat myself to a G&T lol.
have a good day eveyone :wave:r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

Morning All
Another bad night and in alot of pain today-but life goes on
Today, so far have 1 full wash to put on and hopefully weather will be dry to stick on line. Its dry here ATM but very windy and doesnt look too promising. Also 20 min blitz to do.
Need to sort through dd's wardrobe and see what fits her and not. Then stick it all on ebay. OH sorting out some of his garage/office today and laying the rest of the flooring as he has a mate coming saturday to skim all the wallsHopefully, then he can move all his desk, computer, discs etc out there as it is driving me mad in our bedroom. I hate clutter. There are also a ton a bags in the garage that need sorting and possibly more money making potential there for ebay. Old good quality curtains, bedding, toys, puzzles, ornaments etc. Can't believe how much money I used to waste on rubbish  Will get OH to look today whilst he is out there. Also have a few bits to wrap and send off for ebay.
Lunch today will be lamb chop, mash & veg. Dinner is Roast chicken, roast spuds, HM yorkies, veg, stuffing & gravy (as we didnt have one sunday)will also have enough meat left for hm chicken & mush pie, hm chicken curry and some rounds of sarnies
I'll try and pop back later.
Have a great day.

How big's the chicken, PP? When I do roast chicken (there's just three of us, one adult and two young kids), usually about a 4 pound chicken and it does one Sunday dinner, a curry (if I'm lucky) and the carcass for soup.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

Chicken is 1.9kg so about 4lbs, but when making curry I stretch/bulk it out with a tin of beans and tomatoes, mushies etc and the pie filling is normally chicken with a tin of campbells soup watered down with sweetcorn to pad it out a bit. Sarnies are normally shredded chicken with mayo and sweetcorn and some salad.
