    Morning all!!!!

DD is off to school for her first full day (except for coming home for lunch 12 - 1.20) so I'm expecting a very tired and grumpy madam tonight

Had a good weekend. Did loads of baking on Saturday as I couldn't go to my nanas with still having the cold etc from the flu bug DD and I have had. I used up loads of milk that had gone sour and put the remaining stuff in the freezer so I can use it when I get some more lard & plain flour ;) I baked a cake but forgot to put the baking powder in so it wasn't as nice as usual

I've got stacks of washing to do today - infact there is a load in now almost finished. DD came home with a dirty sweatshirt on Friday so I had to put it in the wash. When I came to iron it last night (It had been drying on the maiden since Saturday evening) I found huge brown stains down the front of it  I tried washing it again, fairy soap, soaking it overnight but nothing shifted it. I gave in and went out and bought a box of Ariel Bio in the hopes it will get rid of it, if not, I'm going to have to pay out another £8.50 for a new sweatshirt

The house needs cleaning, I have loads of washing to do and I'm seeing a trip to the laundrette this afternoon to get the washing dry at this rate as the forecast is drizzle followed by heavydownpours this afternoon  Oh well, off to see if the stains have come out

  • Hi all.
Its my day off again, it seems to have come around quickly this week. Had a nice week at work last week as horrible boss was on leave but she is back this week.

My plans for today are: Good blitz of the house, put away the mountain of ironing I did yesterday, do a couple of loads of washing and make a chicken pasta bake with some cream of chicken soup I found at the back of the cupboard. (Also found loads of tins to go in the harvest festival collection at school, and tons of washing powder Id forgotton Id got. Must remember to rootle through cupboards more often) :o

Tonight Ive got a job application to complete, (although Id rather watch corrie and wife swap) and could do with going over finances again. Im back on track for this month, after a break over the summer I am now writing everything I spend down in my little notebook which goes everywhere with me, started my grocery challenge for October already, as OH got paid on 20th September and I get paid on Friday. Unfortunately have slightly overspent, but as I have it all written down, this will be good encouragement NOT to overspend next week. :naughty:

Right, I am not going to spend all day on here, I must go and do something...............

(PS. Such good news about Queenie, Im so glad she is OK) :A

Also forgot to mention, we had a mortgage statement arrive on Saturday so Ive sellotaped it to the fridge with the balance circled in red. We are already making a small overpayment each month which id like to increase but I was reading a brilliant thread on the mortgage forum last night which has inspired me to increase our efforts at paying it off early. When OH is looking longingly at holiday brochures in far flung places I will direct him towards the fridge door.............. (In about 14 years when its paid, he can book his holiday, until then its a caravan somewhere!)

Up sharpish this morning, husband on his way to do a little job for a friend.

Yesterdays lamb cut off the bone for supper tonight, bone in pressure cooker with carrots onion lentils and tomato puree...... lentil soup for lunch for the next couple of days..... winter is coming so soup making days ahead, yummy.........

Managed to do a pile of ironing yesterday, but the washing basket is getting very near the top again, so guess its time to empty it and sort out loads for washing at night on E7. I phoned Powergen today, they are holding over £150 in our account, decided its time we had some of it back, its better gaining interest in my account than theirs.....we are just starting to use the heating again, put it on low this morning its very cold in the house for some reason.

Next door is having new windows put in so lots of banging and crashing about..... waiting for DHL to collect a parcel of stuff I sold on e bay.........Tesco's on Wednesday to do a months shop for staples plus catch up with the market garden lady and get eggs and veg....... I counted uo my Tesco vouchers have £70 and am well on the way to another £10 in November so my December shop will be free thanks to my Tesco vouchers........ might have a bit to carry over into January, only buy staples and the occasional fruit..... my veg shopping is whats in season on the market.

Have lots of raspberries, gooseberries and apples in the freezer for puddings during the winter.... DH likes Raspberry trifle at Christmas, apple and rasps make a nice crumble, I sometimes use apples and a tin of cheapie peaches if I am a bit short of fruit......

Did I miss something? She's okay??? If so that's fantastic news.

Just off to make some muffins, then take toddler to babysitter so I can go for hospital appointment, then get some laundry done and make dinner.

Anyone else feel like they're chasing their tale? (Haveing potty training delights this week.)

Not a very productive day so far. Just been catching up on MSE, as not been online all weekend. Still on holiday, so am taking it easy!

One load of washing done. Unfortunately, it's too wet to hang it outside. Hope it brightens up later. Need to get the house straightened up a bit though. Have got some stuff that needs putting up in the loft out of the way. If I get that done today, I'll be pleased with myself.

I'm also planning to have a go at making homemade soap, using the scraps that I've been saving up for ages. My Grandad always used to do that. Never thought I'd end up doing the same.

I am definitely nothing like my Mum. Even my OH thinks they mixed the babies up in hospital! Unfortunately, I was born at home, so that theory is out! :D
  • I'm at home all this week as I hurt my back at work on Friday. Sitting here feeling very sore and sorry for myself. Not allowed to do much except gentle movements, so the Doc says. Will have to get OH and daughters to help me out bigtime this week :(

    Afternoon all,

Had a good blitz over the weekend so only needed to do the dishes from breakfast this morning and 1 load of washing.

Had 2 new little ones start this morning for a couple of hours - went well - working again this afternoon and have to do 2 school pick ups and it's looking like rain!!!!!!

Got a raging sore throat and my sinuses are feeling decididly dodgy, will just does myself up well and look forward to my day off tomorrow.

Our beef in the slow cooker yesterday was yummy, just fell apart when I tried to fish it out - cooked it with loads of veg and some red wine and have saved the veg and the left over meat to go in with some braising steak later in the week, will make huge yorkshire puddings to go with it.

Oven chips, eggs and beans tonight as I'm working late, I may have something else tho as potatos of any sort seem to be upsetting my tummy at the moment  .

Anyway - have a good one all.
