having a lazy day today so really nothing else old style going on........grandparents had both dd's yesterdat-took them at 8.30am and returned them at 5.45-so house is cleaned and tidied to within an inch of its life!! the only thing left to deal with is a huge mountain for ebay but dh is on nights so cant get in our bedroom to do it.
ahhhhh just remembered got to decide what meat i want in our stirfry later and take it out of freezer.
excited as i had email from lakeland yesterday morning to say my yogurt maker has been dispatched so i cant wait!!,shouldnt be long now-im hoping it'll come tomorrow....but shouldnt really use it if it does i guess as its a birthday present so.....what would you all do if it arrives tomorrow,us it or wait until tuesday when its my birthday and use it then?? i would be inclined to use it but my family has always been really, really big on not opening/using etc presents until the day even if they come beforehand etc......now if it was a wrapped present someone had given me then i wouldnt dream of opening it...but.....its not! i ordered it myself anyway then my parents said they would pay for it as my birthday pressie....ooohhhhhh what to do.

  • Morning all :)

Sorry you had another bad night P-P.

LTS - use it, wash it and put it back in its box if parents are going to see you on your birthday. They'll never know :D

Today was meant to be my lie in, but Mr TM showed no sign of moving so guess who's had to get brekkie for the boys. So, I'm taking advantage of that 1/2 hour before thay come up here to find me :D

I'm going to take the boys and visit my mum and aunt this morning - they're off out later. However, this means I can pop into her Tesco's as they do a few things my Tesco's doesn't do :) I was going to go tomorrow and do a final cut of her lawns. but it's a nice day here so will probably do that today - I'm sure she'll have something else for me tomorrow.

Tea wil be moussaka. I used to hate it when I'd had it in Greece, years ago, but I made it a while ago using a Delia recipe and it was gorgeous. However, may not use eggs in the cheese sauce as had a blow out night last night. Had venison burger, chips and salad for tea, which is OK - then I made bread and butter pud and custard for pud. And, while the oven was on, I knocked up a banana and walnut cake, which is still in the tin, beckoning me. However, I watched an M&M ad last night and thought - Mmmmm choccy peanuts, I have some. So, went to have a few and ate the WHOLE 150gm bag!! THEN I had horlicks, so went to bed knowing I'd had far too much sugar :(

So, my brekkie is currently a cup of green tea. May have another in a minute. Will be having a fruit smoothy in a bit. (Will that cancel out last night, she thinks wistfully ?) Oh well, there ya go :D

Need to do a few bits and pieces and the dreaded ironing later. Managed to do my self assessment tax form last night - yuk, but it's done now. Must sort my paperwork properly too :(

    Have a good day.

  • Hello everyone. I've not posted for quite a while on the daily threads.

I'm going to have to start keeping a spending diary, I did really well for two weeks logging everything I spent onto MS Money but then last week I just went off on one and didn't log anything so now I am clueless again and don't know where I am financially. I'll have to go through my morrisons receipts to try and figure out how well I am doing in my grocery challenge though!

I have enrolled onto an Adult access to Further education course. I start my first class on Tuesday evening (6-9pm for 15 weeks) and the second on Thursday afternoons (1.30-3pm for 30 weeks). These are GCSE equivalent and then next year I will have to do another GCSE equivalent and two A-Level equivalents. I would then like to try and do a part-time degree. If I'd have done the access course in my home town it would have cost me £450 + £150 per exam (and there are two of those). It was also less flexible and would have meant me giving up 3 hours per night for 3 nights as it couldn't be done over two years. I therefore did a bit of research and in a small nearby town I discovered I could get help from the learning support fund as well as choose how many days I wanted to give up. I'm really excited at the thought of 'bettering' myself. It's a long time since I have had a thought that wasn't about children or house related things or money!

Today I am going to have to get the housework done. DS1 (9) has a football match later on which we are going to. The last time they played this team away they won 3-1 but this team are top of the league and when we played them at home they won us 10-1! (my son is goalkeeper - )

I'm also going to start my diet again. I'm going to do Weight Watchers. I did go to class but it was £4.95 per time and as I have all the books and stuff I might as well just do it from home. Didn't there used to be a dieting thread on here? Does anyone know where it is? I need to lose 3st  I can do it for so many weeks and then I get bored and pack it in but really I need to get into the habit of pointing down everything even if I do eat 37 packets of crisps that day!

Right catch up with you all later. I am going to try and implement strict time-keeping budget so I can keep on top of the house-work, kids, financial house-keeping, diet, soon-to-be homework as well as the reading, magazines, watching TV and internet that I enjoy doing and spend too much time on!

Monkeylugs, good luck with the course and the diet. I managed to lose weight without going to a club, but losing weight is never easy, and it depends on what works for you. I've managed to keep the weight off for over 18 months now, so really pleased.

I think the main thread on MSE for dieting is in the 'I wanna buy it/do it' section, here's the link:

i've just stripped the kids beds to be washed, they've also requested making rice crispy cakes. got a couple of hours of ironing ahead of me (joy of joys!) and the usual pleasure of housework before i can escape later and go out jogging for a bit.

Guess where I am? Yes at work, been here since 7am

Got someone coming in for work experience so that'll be good to have an extra pair of hands.

This afternoon, I shall continue proof reading a book that my friend's writing.

Absolutely chucking it down here at the mo - so that looks like blackberry picking has gone out the window.

    Morning all,

Managed to completely blow the budget yesterday, spent £116 in tescos!!!! Did have £7 worth of coupons but still!!!!! It was one of those shops where I needed frozen veg (used up everything defrosting the freezer last week) Shampoos and conditioner, bubble baths, shower gels, razor blades etc...used up all my old stocks of everything and it's the first time i've had to buy bath stuff for about 7 months. I did buy DD's a jumper each and some new socks for me but I still had a bit of a shock at the final price. Oh well, I'll just have to make it last I suppose. Went to the market for fruit and managed to get a carrier bag full (yes actually full) of grapes for £2. Sorted through them and only had to throw away a handfull...bargin!! Got necterenes and tomatoes too, will make a big fruit salad later to use up all the old bits in the fruit bowl.

Got a lovely piece of brisket for the slow cooker - £3.33 and there's plenty there for dinner today and a nice stew/soup later in the week. Also bought some liver as i'm determined to get them all to like it.

Popped off to pick up our lawn mower from freecycle person too - looks great - it's raining here this morning so can't try it. If it only does our last cut then i'll be happy.

Off out to mothers for coffee in a bit - just waiting for DH to get out the bath - all the house work is done - DD's have dusted and hoovered their own rooms, washing is on, beef's in the slow cooker for tonight and dishwasher is merrily chugging away. Will go and iron some school tops while I'm waiting to use the bathroom, will save me worrying about the rest of it untill my day off on tuesday.

Am I the only one thinking weekends are far to short lately???

    Have a good one all.
