Hi all
We're still manically sorting and packing, but I think that we're getting closer to being "ready" to move. We didn't think that we've got much stuff, but the dining room is pretty full at the moment. Nearly had the fright of my life last night though - I bought some tea-light holders from a crystal place in Ireland (not Waterford!) a couple of years ago. OH thought they cost £1.50 each, so had just plonked them in a box........................ I had to rummage through the box to rescue them and wrap them in bubble wrap. He nearly fainted when I told him how much they cost - lets just say they were a bit more than £1.50 each, but these were from my days of being single and thinking that I had money to burn.
We're missing our god son's 1st birthday party, which is a real shame, but we'll get to see him next Saturday as we're moving so much closer to them. Can't wait.
Best go before OH checks up on me.More boxes to fill.:(

I hear that Pooky, weekends are far too short these days (probably got a lot to do with going to work now, instead of my weekends lasting all week as a student....)
Anyway, I have a list as long as my arm of things to do today:
A load of laundry is already on (I have to do two),
gotta iron my work shirts,
HM pizza for dinner tonight (along with watching ep1 of series 2 of lost - its out in the usa so I downloaded it...)
All the flat needs a good hoover,
clean kitchen and bathroom floors, clean bathroom,
wash up dishes,
make lunch for work,
do my mail and post it
and finally put some more stuff up in the loft.
Oh, and hang up a picture of NY I bought from tesco the other day (£12.97 canvas and its very red - and lovely!)
So, the flat will be spick and span by this evening, ready for a week of me not having time to do cleaning. The place is reasonably tidy already, it just needs a good weekly clean, and I want to get on and do some more organising if I get time, we still dont have much furniture so there is stuff still in boxes waiting for something to decant it into. It keeps looking better all the time, although I do have a problem with clothes as we desperately need a wardrobe and I have nowhere to hang them!
Anyway, Id better go read some more threads with my morning tea, then get on with it!

morning all
I've not got many plans for today i have some listings ending on ebay in a couple of hours and have heaps of watchers and hardly any bidders as usual so having to refresh every 2 seconds to see if theres any change!
Apart from that I'm planning a do nothing day going to get creative with the abundance of tinned food for my meals really need to do an inventory and have the list pinned up cos i have no idea whats hiding in the backs of my cupboards. Going to watch some films later and then for the rest of this week I'm planning a proper clearout I'm terrible for dumping dried washing in the airing cupboard never to be seen again.
Have a good day everyone

Morning All,
Another weekend nearly over and the house still looks like a bombs hit it, DH is doing the ironing though (will wondersnever cease!). Have spent all morning doing a big cook up of all the veg that is looking a bit sad so will freeze it all later. Also used all the manky old apples and a tin of peaches to do a lovely fruit crumble which will suffice for dinner.
Have only just started on the OS and am very keen to do well. Have a box in the kitchen for all food & household receipts, as is it first month I will just record rather than set a bugdet, can do that next month when I have more of an idea where I am. Funny though that knowing I will be doing it for real next month makes me work harder this month.
Can anyone tell me if yogurt makers, bread makers, and slow cookers save you money? I imagine they do as you all seem to have one or the other. Can anyone tell me how to get hold of good ones cheaply? Also interested in useg cloth nappies for my youngest. Shes 1 so I hav another year of nappies to go at least. Never had the cash for them before but now that OH's redundancy money (yay) has come through I think I will splash out. Thinking of using Fuzzi somethingorothers, anyone else using them?
Rain is holding off in Essex for the mo which is just as well, I have washing to put out. Hope you all have a relaxing afternoon.

Morning all
I have been a very busy bunny this week and the house looks great and the washing is now under control. The side effects from the anti-d's are actually wearing off so I feel a bit more normal now too.
DD2 has been going to school from 9 - 12 and it's amazing how much work I have managed to fit in those 3 hours. Just one more week and she is there full-time so I may even have some free time soon
DH is at work, DS is at his dad's and DD1 is recovering from the hangover from hellI have already fed the cats and the guinea pigs, made the beds, got a wash out to dry and put another one in and the house is tidy. So it's either go and do some baking or park my bum in front of the tv?

Argos, Currys, and Amazon seem to be the main sources of supply.
I just lost all the work I'd done on this earlier while collecting the links for you so I'm going to post this now and then edit the links in properly so I don't lose them again. Watch this space...

urghhh... i feel like rubbish! Been ill last few days and developed a rash 2 nights ago. Thought nothing of it (heat rash? allergic reaction) well anyway got to a silly point last night so i left work on my lunch hour (midnight) and went to the emergency doctors next door. They think i have german measles!!! Had to ring work this morning and tell them.. got a horrible attitude off them and i know when i go back to work i'll be given a final written warning - yes tesco give you warnings for being ill even with a doctors note!!! I got a verbal warning for having tonsillitis.. before my warning period ran out (8 weeks ) i collapsed in work and banged my head so had to go home.. missed only 3 hours off my shift but ended up with a first written warning (12 weeks i think?) Now ive gone home with this i'll be on my final.. so looks like im off the jobcentre to find a DAY job that can match the pay of my unsocial hours night job. And averaging £7.26 an hour i doubt im gonna be able to find one
So might have to move back home to my mums as wont be able to afford the rent on my house on a lower wage
So feeling pretty sorry for myself today.. on a positive note i have HM soup in the slow cooker and cos my mum stayed the night (cos im not well) she tidied up this morning while i was still in bed - thanks mum!!So one less job for me to do.. might curl up on the sofa with a film in a min.. im sooo tired still.

i know what you mean ! I've just finished collecting my months receipts ready to join the october grocery challenge (my month runs Sept 25th to Oct 25th - payday!) and have already considerably cut my grocery bills.I have set a target of 250.00 for 4 of us and am determined to do it ! :j as for the breadmaker I've just started using one and have bought a months supply of flour. My kids love the HM stuff.Cant make it quick enough!we're also in the process of starting a veggie garden so hopefully our foodbills next year will be even lower!
Good luck in your first full month OS :money:Do what you love :happyhear0 -
hi, had a great day yesterday, posted late in yesterdays thread. had great plans for today but the weather is rotten and has scuppered most of them.
made soup yesterday so will be sorting it out later and are having roast for dinner. (free chicken from tesco's misprice lol). Dh is really unwell, think he might have flu, but he's staying up as the boys are with us this weekend. they are back tomorrow after school and will probably have chicken left so will give them chicken again!
i am planning to buy a slow cooker inspired by all your threads and the one purdy posted looks great so will go and get that soon. we have quite a lot of meat in the freezer we got reduced so hopefully the slow cooker will work wonders on them.
i've been planning to try some new recipies and have copied some recipies from the threads to experiment with. we have two freezers full of food and quite a lot in the cupboards, so have decided to use these up and only buy what we need to make the meals. hopefully this will curtail our spending abit for a while. married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090
