Afternoon all - hope it's going well Moggins and ((((snowy)))) - it's a very difficult time and I'm thinking of you.
Well I'm back at work after a VERY lazy two weeks off, but I've decided not to beat myself up about it... It's been a difficult couple of years and I needed some downtime. Feeling much better all round now.
I've a freezer full of good O/S food as well (which is grand as I'm on my "long week" - 7 days which includes 2*12hrs) so I'll not go far wrong.
my rubber chicken is well stretched and currently residing in no less than 9 meals in the freezer (not including the 5 already eaten and all the stock) which is not bad from a £5 organic bird really- thanks to everyone who helped me with that; the chicken pie in particular was a revelation.
Not so much on the O/S today with work, but really quite happy to rest on my laurels a bit today! No real spending (bar the 63p top up for my Amazon vouchers to get "much ado about nothing" on DVD...can't wait to drool over the lush Mr Reeves when it arrives!) today though either; so all in all, pretty good.Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -

Hi all,
Back at work so Ive been lurking a lot but not much time to post.
Lasst week was quite hectic, and we were out at night so I found it difficult to rustle up meals for us all. I could see we would fall into the trap of frozen ready meals if I didnt nip it in the bud, so I spent the weekend cooking and freezing, I now have a freezer full of chicken curry, spaghetti bolognaise and cottage pie.
Today is my day off and the house looks like a bombsite, as it always does after the weekend. Was planning to drop the girls at school, come home and get stuck in, but received an anguished phone call from my mom at 8am. I went round after the school run and she is very poorly. I waited until lunchtime for the doctor, and mom has an acute inner ear infection. The doctor wanted her to go into hospital, mainly because she lives alone and she was worried about dehydration and the fact that mom currently has no balance, but said she can stay at home if someone stays with her.
I am unable to go and stay there as OH is not available and I have 2 young daughters, so mom is going to stay with us for a couple of days until she is feeling a bit better. I will move dd2 into dd1's room so mom can have a room to herself, and I will be on hand all the time then. Work have been very good and given me a few days compassionate leave to look after her.
On a brighter note I have a job interview on Thursday, which Im pleased about. Im not sure of the hours etc of the job yet, but have been to find out where it is, parking etc, and have also sorted out what Im wearing in readiness, which is not like me. I have applied for a few other jobs which I like the look of more, so will not be too upset if I dont get anywhere with this one, but feel perked up that at least I had got to interview stage. Its a lot less money, but also less hours. What I lose in salary I will have to make up for by Old Styling, which is what I would rather be doing anyway!
Got to go and get dd2 from french club now, enjoy the rest of the day everyone!0 -
Oh moggins, I can't believe they're leaving you to make dinner tonight after what you've been through this afternoon
... they could at least have given you a night off!
I've had DS in the kitchen cooking for me tonight, albeit a slightly different version of the sausage casserole I'd originally planned, and more of a hotpot due to the time and not wanting to confuse him making more than one dish at a time!... but it was absolutely delicious and I'm really proud of him
(I'll try to remember to write up the recipe at some point)
Ok, so I better 'fess up as to why he's been cooking instead of me, and before anyone panics or screams at me to see a doctor, I promise I will if I get worried or feel worse... so, since around lunchtime today I've had excruciating pain in my right shoulder. It's ok and doesn't hurt if I keep it in a certain position (making typing difficult) but if I try to rotate the joint or stretch my arm it hurts, and I can't lift anything at all
This is the opposite arm to where I had the pins and needles, which has cleared up somewhat but not completely, but this is a totally different type of pain and I don't think is in any way related. If anything it feels very similar to something my ex experienced several years ago called "frozen shoulder" or bursitis(?). No idea how or why it has occured though as I was absolutely fine when I got up this morning, and it started suddenly whilst I was on the phone, so I wasn't even using it at the time!
It's more a pain in the a$$ (or shoulder :rotfl: ) than anything as I'm right-handed so I'm really feeling the loss of use of that arm, much moreso than the other, so if it's still the same tomorrow I'll give the GP a call and see if he can come out and see me. It also means I won't be typing as much, but I'm sure some of you might be thankful for that LOL!
Let's just hope bits don't start falling off me soon! :rotfl:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
~
It is that what you do, good or bad,
will come back to you three times as strong!

Been busy today with DD's lessons. This afternoon I put up one of the PVC greenhouses we bought on Sunday. It took ages but looks okay.I'll have to get OH to help me fix it down in the final position though as it is on concrete and will need bolts. At the moment it is pegged down on the grass. We hung yesterdays laundry in the kitchen as it was drizzling this morning.DD wasn't pleased as she wanted to wear one of the items but she hadn't mentioned it last night else I'd have hung them up then. The BM finished about 30 mins ago so I'd best get downstairs and take the loaf out or I'll never be able to slice it for DS's sandwiches tonight.0
