Hi,
Is this offer still available?? Can't find on their siteFiliss0 -
I thought insuring a car twice was illegal too...
If it's not illegal I'm pretty sure you will be breaking their terms and conditions...
And yes it is still available!!! here:
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/insurance/car_insurance/introduction.htm
It still says: "buy from us and if you find a better quote, we'll refund double the difference* "
And the claim form is still there:

Thanks Simon.
Can somebody please detail the insurance companies who NW seem to be accepting as a like for like quote and what extras to select to ensure like for like.
In my case, i am the only driver so no complictions with second drivers excesses etc.
Thanks.Filiss0 -

I've checked the NW t+c's and it states something along the lines of "If you have another insurance policy we will only pay our share of the claim".
Checking Admiral/Elephant and some others - they have the same wording.
It's their loophole (='passing the buck'), but it isn't illegal...0 -
Can you get a like for like policy using Norwich Union??? cos if you can then I am IN !!! Looking for a friend and may just cancel mine and reapply - I don't know any insurers who have charged me in the past for cancelling my insurance even when its been a few months into it0

Hmmm. My renewal premium is £665, versus Nationwide asking £1475. I could probably get a brand new quote reasonably close to £665 if I re-quoted after buying from Nationwide. The double-the-difference offer would then result in Nationwide paying me to be insured by them for a year.
The strange thing is that the bigger the difference, the more risky it is! I don't wanna end up forking out £800 over the odds and then find Nationwide escape on a technicality. If they were only £200 more expensive, I'd risk it.0 -
Stonk, I'm waiting on a very similar (slightly bigger) claim, and yes, it is a bit nerve racking. Especially as I can only cancel up to this thursday, and all they'll tell me over the phone is that they've posted something to me asking for more info, so I've no idea if I'm on for some money or not.
I bet they make more of an effort checking out your claim if the payout is so big, especially if they'll have to pay you to be insured for the year.
Fingers crossed....0 -
I was told by Direct Line that it was illegal.... when I wasn't a customer of theirs either so it can't have been scare tactics to keep me!
That's where my opinion came from anyway, I may be misinformed, but I still wouldn't recommend you did it!0 -
