  • Hi, just wanted to post a quick review of Unlocking.com

Everything seemed simple enough; give them my phone's IEM, make and model number, pay them and wait a few days. After two weeks my order was put on hold.

After a week of it being on hold I emailed them to ask what was going on. I was informed that the information I had provided was wrong. I couldn't see anything wrong with and the information I emailed back was exactly the same as I had given previously. I was also curious as to why they hadn't contacted me to get the information when they had first discovered it was wrong.

Whatever, probably some oversight. All it takes is one forgetful member of staff to mess up, right?

The next day I received a reply to the email from a completely different member of staff stating my order was not on hold and if I looked at the site I would see it was not on hold.

Erm... it was on hold. As I had given them the info I ignored it for a while. However, nothing changed, my order was still on hold. I took a screen cap of the page with the big blue ON HOLD sign and attached it to a reply informing them that if I didn't receive my code in five days I would start a PayPal dispute.

Well lo and behold if I didn't get an apology and my code within three days.

The code works, although the phone is showing no signal bars and won't accept an operator I select from its menu... but that might be a problem with phone as it can't see any nearby Bluetooth devices and won't connect to the wifi.

2nd code:- Network Provider unlock code
    #0133*73826394#

These codes were supplied by Virgin, don’t know if they can be used again?
  • Please can anyone assist?
  • It appears that most PAYG are locked. Does anyone know, generally, if contract phones are locked? For example those bought at sites like phone4u dialaphone etc?

I've read through a lot of threads and the article and can't see any answer or find it online.

Are there particular networks that lock phones?

    thanks

Most (all?) PAYG handsets sold by p4u/d-a-p and by cpw/osps/e2save/mobiles.co.uk are unlocked.

Phones sold by networks directly are normally locked. I think branded phones are usually locked too.

I want to know about mobile unlocking.

I am looking at getting a Samsung Galaxy Ace from tesco so I can use the double up voucher scheme and get it cheaper. But my problem is, it only comes on PAYG on Tesco Mobile. As far as I know Tesco mobile is the same netowrk as O2 and this doesn't work in our own home and to well around our village, so not much use on that network. So I want to know if I can unlock the phone so I can put a different sim card in it?

I'm a bit scared to do it as it will be a brand new phone and I wouldn't want to end up breaking it.

So how reliable are the people that do the unlocking? Is there any very reliable ones that can be recommended? Would Tesco do it themselves if I paid a little more and explained the circumstances?

    I appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks
