Would Tesco do it themselves if I paid a little more and explained the circumstances?0

As a general rule O2 phones are not locked. As Martin says it's well worth trying another operator SIM first!
Hi
Ref. to "O2 phones already being unlocked". The information I was given by a network advisor would suggest that it has more to do with WHO supplied the phone and NOT the network.
A phone supplied by an outlet selling phones for more than one network is likely to sell a phone which is already unlocked or locked to more than one network. This means that they are able to sell you the phone along with the appropriate network SIM card thus reducing stock requirements. Therefore if you puchase a phone from them it is worth while trying your new sime in the phone before having it unlocked but be carefull to sellect the appropriate option as you may be presented with more than multipal options for your chosen networkand others. I received my new phone and having tried different SIM cards I was given multipal otions.
However, a network specific store sells only phones which are tied to them and therefore it makes sence for them to sell phoned which are locked.
With regard to unlocking options, I recently tried Mobile Unlock Codes (@ mobileunlockcodes.co.uk) who were able to give me an unlock code for my old moble. It took just over 24 hours but for £3.99 I am more than happy. They claim to be able to supply some unlock codes quickly but it depends on the manufacture of the phone. They also claim a money back guarantee but I cannot vouch for this.
I hope this is of help

Sorry if someone's already posted about this site, but I have to share it because it has just made me the easiest £9 ever. (ok, not a fortune but definitely worth it.)
I had an old T-Mobile blackberry curve, which I could get approx £12 for on a recycling site online. However, if anyone lives in London, there is a shop called Base on Tottenham Court Road (similar to CEX type thing) which will buy old phones. The quote they gave me there was £28 locked or £37 unlocked (with charger).
So, thinks me, there must be a way of unlocking it for less than £9. Step up freemyblackberry.com. Having followed the instructions on their site (you do need a bit of patience & some knowledge about how to use your handset) to the letter, I was then left waiting for them to send me my unlock code (at this point, I confess, I was sceptical).
But lo and behold, just 18 hours after requesting it, the code arrived in my inbox. It worked perfectly and now my phone is totally unlocked.
I am now taking all the old phones I have rustled up in to sell at Base & hope to be able to pay for my new phone0 -
I've been going round in circles for the last 2 months but I'll try to be as brief as possible.
My Nokia 6700S was locked into Virgin. I just signed up with Tesco Simcard but it wouldn't work. I couoldn't understand the women at the foreign call centre so I went to the Virgin store twice and they put me through to the main service centre. I'm given the unloch code and they me what to look for on the screen but it's not on my phone. I send the phone back and it's wiped clean but still won't work. they then send me a brand new phone in exchange for my old one. Fantastic service but new one still the same.
I email the highly recommended CEO as advised on forum and the mtter is sorted in a couple of days.
He sends me another brand new phone but the screen is still the same. TOO MUCH COINCIDENCE. I follow the instructions to the letter EXCEPT0 -
for the screen prompt which isn't there. I put the code straight in and it's unlocked. Good news.
After 2 weeks the phone goes faulty and not even the local Virgin store will touch it so it goes back to Nokia. I've just got it back repaired.
BUT IT'S LOCKED INTO THE VIRGIN NETWORK AGAIN. And the unlock code doesn't work
And I've put it in twice which means that another go and it's locked forever. Oh well!
It reminds me of that old song about when the gasman came to call.0 -
It's hard to believe that you sent an ulocked phone and Nokia locked it to Virgin. Are you sure your Tesco sim is fine?0

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to unlock a phone (in this case a Blackberry) from Orange, to enable it to be used with a "3" sim?
I don't necessarily want to do it myself, and am happy to take it into a shop to get it done, but I don't work near to any shops and don't want to be dredging into town unnecessarily, if it can't be done. I seem to remember my son buying a phone a couple of years ago, taking it to an unlocking shop, but then finding that he couldn't use the phone with "3". I don't know if that is the case now, or with all phones.0 -
Not all phones can be used on '3' because it has to be a 3g enabled phone.
I think all BBs are 3g, but don't take my word for it.

The Tesco clubcard exchange has only a few days to run. They currently offer a HTC Sensation 429.97 but only on Tesco Mobile. On the Exchange it would in effect be half price. I need a phone to replace a contract HTC that was stolen- my contract was with Tmobile, so I dont expect the Sensation to work on T mobile. Anyone useful advice please?0
