Barclay Card ...Customer Service ...?

  • Hi All,

    UK number - 01604 230230

Recently got a Barclaycard and had cause to ask a quick question about something I saw on my credit report. If memory serves they have three Call-Centres abroad: Delhi, Mumbai (Bombay) and Manilla. The foreign call centres and email communication with them did not answer my question and caused a lot of frustration on my part - so a simple query became a complaint; they apologised and threw £20 my way with no attempt to answer/understand my query. Out of frustration I rang the UK lost or stolen number - 01604 230230 - and got through to customer services who helped me and answered my question in about 30 seconds (albeit twice in different ways, which doesn't inspire confidence!). Apparently Barclaycard filter complaints with the foreign call centres and if they cannot help abroad the complaint should be escalated to 'level 1 complaints' in the UK - which did not happen with me. Overall I'd steer clear of barclaycard from my experience, but there are UK call centres, you just have to think laterally to get through. Also remember it isn't worth being loyal to any of these businesses, they should be trying to be loyal to you - if unhappy just go to someone who wants your business!
  • Barclaycard have owed me £1.49 for the past 6 years. They won't issue a cheque, and I won't use my card, so I can't close the account. They issue a statement every 6 months showing my negative balance. Any ideas?

No idea what the PIN is, or even where the card is for that matter. It hasn't been used for 6+ years. They can write it off as far as i'm concerned.
  • Wanted to give a donation on Justgiving site and failed the Barclaycard secure payment info as ages since I've had to fill iin details.

Anyway phoned Barclaycard and Indian lady took the call, I explained the problem and there was no reply so I said 'thanks for your help, byeee' and put the phone down. Phoned them again and asked to be transferred to the UK call centre and was told that there's isn't one, that you either get through to Delhi or Mumbai. I wonder when you ring up and listen to press this for that, and that for something else it's spoken by a man in an English accent ? Just be upfront from the start and have it spoken by a person with an Indian accent.........

All was well in the old days of Goldfish !
  • No idea what this thread is about but I always call the 01604 number when wanting to call BC

I always end up speaking to Americans or Scottish people, not once has there been an Indian person to talk to, personally I'm happy with that, maybe the person you spoke to isn't in the know being a lowly CS rep :o
  • I also phoned an 01604 number but still managed to get to Delhi/Mumbai

I've always got through to an Indian call centre and personally get too frustrated trying to talk to someone with not the best English and some you have to repeat yourself again and again.
  • Sent an email to Barclaycard to ask if they have a UK call centre.

Their reply was that they do.

So why did their customer services say they couldn't transfer me as a UK call centre does not exist.......

Awaiting a reply from Barclaycard to the above question
