Just been surprised with the news today regarding CNM/PBD.
I've been reading posts on this website and doing some research else where to see what people have done when other mobile companies have gone bust.
It was quite interesting what i've read. Its in moneysupermarket.com regarding Dialamobile/Mobile Connections that ppl were able to cancel contracts.
here's some links:

http://www.moneysupermarket.com/community/forums/t/mobile-connections-10612.aspx?PageIndex=61
More importantly I found this regarding Dialamobile/Mobile connections:
http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=112096&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=1522
Plus here is a report given by the BBC on this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_midlands/6987821.stm
However, after reading the page from birmingham.gov.uk it seems that the section (internet contracts) may apply to ppl who made orders online from CNM/PBD which means we may not be able to cancel our contracts
Internet Contracts
We believe that Customers of Mobile Connections who made their contract via the internet will not be able to terminate their airtime agreement as the terms and conditions on the Mobile Connections website made clear the terms of the contract. Our advice to terminate agreements applies only to customers who purchased phones in retail shops and where there is no agreement as to a minimum contract period.
I hope the trading standards still do something about it when we all report.0 -
Hi
I purchased my phone 1 sept from PBD on a vodaphone contract.
Just contacted them and they will not reduce the line rental package until you are 9 months in to your contract.
Anybody else been in touch with vodaphone?0 -
I think we all knew this was going to happen before long. I do not know the law regarding this but isn’t it about time that the scumbags who run these companies are hold accountable for their debts before they invent similar companies to rip people off again. This is the third company that Mr & Mrs Slater has owned that has failed owing money. While they live in luxury by scamming people the customers always lose. It will not be long before they come up with another doomed venture. These idiots should be made to pay all money owed before starting up new companies otherwise there is no deterrent in ripping people off. As for the employees who constantly lied to the customers I am glad you lost your jobs, you should have more morals, Santa may send you a new pen so you can sign on for jobseekers allowance, Happy Christmas!:santa2:0

Now that PBD are bust any1 know what is happening to the insurance firm they are using. one of the phones on my 2 lines was stolen early october. i reported it and am still waiting for them to send me a claim form. phoned them to say havent received it and was told they will send it. it has been a week and still nothing.
btw phone was taken out of my daughters pocket on the bus. but the police will only do a lost in the street form as they say there is no evidence the phone was stolen and will not check bus cctv.
as this is a separate headache from my cashback migraine do i start a new thread? help. dont want to p any1 off.0 -

I have spoken to vodafone today and according to them they will be getting in touch with all effected customers which i doubt as they are getting line rental so why should they bother or hurry. I have also sent them an e mail and will be writting them too. and will share the results in my case i have been with them for about 9 months.

Vodafone were very helpful and generous with the Mobile Connections fiasco - far more so than the other networks. I am therefore at least slightly optimistic that they will be the same in this instance. If they are it will once more enhance their reputation and make people much more likely to choose them again.0

I spoke to T-Mobile and the guy stated categorically in a way that suggested he was reading from a prepared script (and thus covered all bases) that there was no way T-Mobile would lower the tarriffs, allow you to end the contract early, offer any kinds of deals or discounts or do anything helpful at all.
I guess one option for those who need it would be to cancel the direct debit from the banks end. You'd still owe the mobile company the money and they'd chase you for it but they'd give up after a while and sell the debt to a debt collection agency.
The debt collection agency would then chase you with threatening letters and phone calls but would be unlikely to ever take you to court. I don't think it's efficient to sue for less than about £800.
It's just another option.0 -

Yes I actually visited their site yesterday (Friday) and it was still live then. I check today and see the page everybody now see's. According to that page they went into administration on Wednesday? Yet they were still apparently trading on Friday?
BTW, you can see that the google bot also visited their site yesterday (16 Nov 2007 06:37:39 GMT) because it has placed their page in their cache at that time.

Im no expert but isnt it a criminal offence to still be open for business when you are apparently in administration? I have printed this page off so i will have it for Trading Standards if they ask due to the google bot visiting thier site and reindexing it before they check)

wilbur111:- that is the worse advice anyone could give. Cancelling the direct debit will not only set the dogs on someone BUT also ruin their credit rating for many years to come - as I and many others have repeatedly pointed out.
andy5677:- Think about it realistically. It amazes me that the administrators have achieved so much in a very short space of time. It is extremely helpful to read their very clear statement so everyone understands the situation fully. However, to expect them to come in on (presumably late) Wednesday and first off to close the website (or change it) is a practical non-starter I would imagine. It is fairly certain that had anyone attempted ordering they would not have actually achieved a phone or contract. Thursday morning (it seems) all the staff were sent home so there was no-one there to process anything. I already knew that Dextra had parted company with them (they were only service suppliers to the company) a few weeks ago although I didn't broadcast that information. The worse that may have happened (because of automatic systems) is that anyone ordering would have been charged £2.50 for the identity check. Besides, there is always the 7 day cooling off period had anyone received a phone (which I sincerely doubt). Personally the administrators seem to be doing a magnificent job - we could easily have been waiting for weeks to know the score and been bombarded with misinformation by many of the angry and less wise people on here. The statement issued will also inform the networks of the situation VERY quickly - something which might help us all.0 -
Guys, could we use one thread to cover the whole CNM/PBD liquidation problem as it'll be slightly easier to work out what to do next rather than having 3-4 different threads on the go. There's a thread already started below and I suggest we all use that to discuss the issue:
