My name is Gemma... and we're flying from Birmingham. Staying in Playa Blanca :D

I'm just freaking out about last minuet details now as we're staying at birmingham travelodge tomorrow night due to it being an early flight :D
  • My friend and I are coming to Lanzarote in 2 weeks, infact we will have hopefully arrived 2 weeks today.
We are staying in Puerto Del Carmen, in a private rented apartment.
    We can't wait!
My last time on the island was Nov last yr, but my mate has never been.. I hope she likes it!!!

    Thanks, will do. :T
  • Hi Ellie, could you reccommend a Bodega for us to visit please. I'm guessing you've been to one or two :D.
  • Ha ha ha! Perhaps I have! I've certainly sampled their wares.

My favourite is Stratvs... which is in the La Geria winegrowing part of the Island. They have a restaurant there too. More info on their website here: http://www.stratvs.com/index.php/en.html Their wine is certainly not cheap... but it's very nice and regularly wins awards. The tours are I think €12 per adult.

Also... on the left hand side just before you reach Uga, as you're heading back to Playa Blanca... is a lovely lovely place called El Chupadero. A fabulous place to stop for a drinkie or bite to eat. http://www.el-chupadero.com/

    Enjoy!

  • Hi Ellie, thanks for your replies, only one more sleep (actually I’m on nights and won’t go to bed tomorrow before we fly). I’ve got a rough plan for our three days car hire and would like to know what you (and anyone else) think.

Day 1 – Los Hervideros, El Golfo for lunch, Yaiza then Puerto del Carmen and a walk to Puerto Calero with dinner at either.

Day 2 – Mirador del Rio, Cueva de los Verdes, Jameos del Agua with lunch at one of these then Costa Teguise maybe having dinner here.

Day 3 – Timanfaya (lunch), Bodega Stratvs for the tour then to Bodegas Chuperdero and Grifo for a little taster (not for the driver though!!)

I know it is very touristy and there are lots more places to visit and probably better places to stop to eat but I’m trying to keep it simple and it’ll give us a reason to come back. ;)

Please feel free to make any suggestions or recommendations. I may keep the car for our last day as not flying until evening, thanks again, Nick x :D

Me and my wife fly out on Sunday, this will be our 12th year in a row that we have been to Playa Blanca - we just love the place and our ambition is to eventually retire there.

We've always stayed in villas around the Parque del Rey, Vista Lobos, Las Claveles area but this time we decided to go a little further west and so we are staying in a villa on Playa Burgados situated between the Rubicon Palace and Faro Park. Hopefully it will be a good choice !

Looking forward to seeing old friends especially my mate Sandy (the best restauranter in Playa Blanca) !!!
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............
  • Hi Gingernick. Your itinerary sounds fab! Only thing I'd change is part of your Day Two. Instead of eating at Jameos del Agua, I'd head a little further North to Orzola, or a little south to Arrieta, and eat at either of those places. Much more choice and lovely settings. Anywhere in Orzola is fine. If Arrieta, then go to the restarant at the far end of the beach. The walk to Calero on your Day One is a lovely walk! I've done it a few times myself. Watch out in the heat... but it makes the liquid reward at the otehr end all the more sweet. I'm loving Restaurant Azure in Puerto Calero at the moment. I try to go whenever I visit my hairdresser there. Make El Chupadero your last stop on that route, as it's almost at Uga on your way back. There's nothing wrong with doing some touristy stuff honey... that's what it's there for! xxxxx

Hello Derwent - Playa Burgados is very nice. Yes it is a bit further out, but nowhere in PB is really too far away from the centre, so you'll be fine! Enjoy! Sandy is a popular chap around the resort isn't he? xxxxx
