  • Hi Tabata. You are referring to La Bocaina yes?
Yes - La Bocaina Restaurant changed hands a couple of years ago. Paul Ecob - the original owner and chef - was the one, with his team, who kept it at top of the rankings while they still owned it. That's the reason I posted links to his website and his Facebook page rather than the TripAdvisor page which reflects the current perception under its new owners/chefs.
    Hope that makes sense.

  • Do you have any information about how the underwater sculpture museum is coming along Elle?

I'm a scuba diver and am desperate to come and dive it, but can't seem to find any information about whether it has been completed or if there is anything to see yet? Or if it is accessible if they are in the process of installing the sculptures.

And am I right in thinking that Las Colorados beach is the one at the far eastern end of PB, with the shopping centre with Ropers supermarket in?

We stayed near there last year, really liked Ropers supermarket and thought it was a shame that the rest of the shopping centre was more or less empty.

Hopefull the sculpture museum will regenerate that end of PB as the village style shopping centre was lovely and would have been nice to walk round if there had been more restaurants in there. We did find a couple of restaurants in the area but the rest of the time went to the Marina - we were fine to do this walk, and liked saying hello to all the cats along the way, but I can imagine that it is too far for many.

Hello catwoman - I always thought cats hate water... so your special powers must make you immune :rotfl:

I know that they are still seeking models for the statues and I don't think it's installed yet.

However, there are a few people in the Playa Blanca group on Facebook that have been discussing it so I'll ask them and come back to you if that's okay?

You could also have a chat to Garry at https://www.dawndiveslanzarote.com - if anyone knows, he does.

Los Colorados beach is at the western end of the resort yes. But the statues are currently stored at the back end of the marina by the small castillo, so am unsure why they're storing it a couple of kilometres away.

Okay - have heard back. They are stored where they are because that is the workshop. The statues are still all queued up, so not sure when they are being installed.

Oh my word - guess who's coming back Elle!!! :money: I'm trying to sort our car hire at the minute but couldn't remember who we used last time so thought I'd check on here and discovered it was this day 6 years ago that we arrived in Playa Blanca for the first time!

We're all heading over next month, me, hubby, 2 girls (eldest is almost 13!), toddler is 2 1\2, mother and father in law and sister in law with her partner.

We'll be there for a week from Thursday before Easter so I'm just wondering what happens over Easter weekend. Is there anything you would recommend that we do? Or does the town close down for a couple of days? Does it affect opening hours of pubs etc? (I'm in Northern Ireland, our licensing hours are restricted over Easter!)

  • Good Friday is the main holiday, so you may find places out of resort closed but it shouldn't affect the tourist resorts. Otherwise everything carries on as normal.
