    Thanks for the reply Elle.

It looks like the Vodafone sim for 1,5gb for 15euros would be the best for me as detailed here http://www.vodafone.es/particulares/es/descubre-vodafone/ahorra-con-vodafone/tourist-in-spain/

I cannot see their Playa Blanca store in the click through but perhaps I missed it!

My Spanish is not too good. Do you know if they speak Spanish in the shop?

    Thanks again.

    No problem... happy to help.

They do speak English in the shop - although it's limited. Maybe print off the page and take it with you? Their Spanish / English will be enough to get what you need though. Have you tried seeing what roaming deals are available at home first? Spain is notoriously pricey... and that 1GB of data will be gone before you can open up an email and check your Facebook.

The Vodafone shop is almost opposite the Post Office in town. Easiest way to direct you is... ... ...

Stand with your back to the taxi rank with the main road running left to right ahead of you.
Look left and you'll see the road turns at the roundabout. So go to that roundabout and turn right.
Take the first left and the Post Office is on your left. Vodafone is opposite. parking is difficult on that street though so you may wish to park up and walk there. x

Most people on this forum and others recommend getting a sim locally in Spain.

Your point about roaming deals in the UK will be very valid when 3 allow roaming at UK prices from April http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Phones/Feel_At_Home

1.5gb for 15euros under the Data Sim and Wifi Modem heading on Vodafone's Spain website is not too bad......I will keep away from Youtube and films to keep usage down! In the UK that compares with the best deals AND you have to have a contract http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/compare/sim_only_deals/

They do not say how much it is to top up if I use the 1.5gb but I will ask them that when I get there.

I went into the Vodafone shop in Playa Blanca armed with a print out of the 1.5gb sim offer for 15euros.

The person that served me told me the offer was not available and said the price was 5euros for the sim and 25euros for
1.5gb of data. What a rip off......I refused to accept it and walked out!

The Orange shop just around the corner sold me a sim and 2gb for 20euros and it's working very well.

  • Confused! What do you need help with?
  • The hotel you've booked has a good rating on Tripadvisor......take any negatives with a pinch of salt. Your chosen hotel looks lovely, don't spend your time worrying when you should be looking forward to your holiday......you'll have a great time I'm sure!

Hi all, we are booked to go in June for our first abroad holiday with our daughter, she is 3. We are keen to take a camel ride in the volcanic area but can't work out if there is a lower age limit. Also is there a tourist info office for booking trips or is it best to stick to the rep in the hotel.
