Hi,
This is a brilliant thread, I have printed off the best bits for our stay next week in Casa del Sol.
Does anyone know how easy it would be to hire car in PB at the moment?
We were hoping to arrange something before we go, but there seems to be a lack of hire car availability for next week , but that was mostly looking at the big car hire operators.
We are looking at a couple of days hire to do the tourist sights, the rest of the time will be spent on the beaches of PB!
Ray
We hired a car last week for 3 days the main company only had class D's and above available so we went [STRIKE] to the cheapest[/STRIKE] 'erm "more local" which had some class b's available, lets just say everything was going fine until the exhaust fell off !!
"Plus car" seems to be the decent place to go but as I said they only had the larger cars - I suppose it just depends on what size you want and how much you want to spend.0 -
nottslass, thanks for the heads up.
We will carry on searching but it is good to know that there are options available as a last resort.

hi Elle hope you are ok any update on the beach is it open or near to opening yet ? wats the weather like at the moment does it get cold at night or is it still ok0

Still not open I'm afraid Blondie! And still looks a little way off yet as they haven't yet completed the breakwater - and then they've got to sort the sand. Sorry!
Evenings are still very warm - even I haven't been reaching for my fleece yet.

Hi Elle,
Only 3 weeks to go to our holiday! I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.
What's the mosquito situation like out there? They love me and I hate them!
I'm going with 2 sons aged 18 and 17. Just wondering if there's any evening entertainment which might suit us all. Say quizzes or live music or anything like that. Not really late music bars as I'm too old for that and want it to be a family holiday! Will my 17 year old be allowed to drink beer with meals/in a bar. I'm not sure of the legal age for drinking there.
Is there a taxi rank so we can get a taxi back to Costa Papagayo villas in the evenings?
Thanks again,
DB
Oh - just one more thing. In an earlier post you mentioned taxi transfers from the airport.

Is this one reliable do you think? It is only 80 euros return and the
www.t4you.eu is quoting 90 pounds sterling which is quite a bit more.0 -
Hello lovey!
I'm afraid that yes we do get the mozzies here... but a couple of things may help (there are not swarms of them here anyway). Steer away from perfume during the evenings... as the blighters love it! Try Avon Skin So Soft - they hate it!. Keep the doors and windows to your accommodation closed at dawn and dusk. Your holiday is only 3 weeks away - so in theory it will still be too hot and dry for the little beggars anyway.
No problem with family fun. Try Wax Bar in CC Papagayo (behind Playa Dorada). It's very family friendly. Also try Legends Bar in Punta Limones (my 18 year old stepson loves it there... apparently it's where the cool kids of that age love). The Irish bars also have evening entertainment too.
Officially by law then no, your 17 year old can't drink... as the age limit is 18. However... many places are flexible on it. I won't name which places these are... as I wouldn't wish to put their licenses at risk... but if you really want your lad to have a pint - then you shouldn't find a problem. We didn't, when nipper was still underage.
123transfers.net and t4you.eu are both the same company hon. But the difference in price is because one is in euros, and one is in GBP. Hope that makes sense. Remember that if you are booking a private transfer as opposed to a shared shuttle - then mention my name, or my website (Canary Nightlife) and Karsten will give you a discount. I am sure it's 10%, but do check with him. And there are absolutely no issues with reliability! Top notch service. And if you are the unlucky first person to ever get let down (which you shouldn't be) then let me know... and I'll kneecap him for you next time I see him :rotfl:
Have a great time!

Thanks for sorting the weather out :rotfl::rotfl:
Ha ha ha ha. Got a tad warm there for a day or so didn't it? 43 degrees at teatime yesterday! 34 degrees at 3am this morning!! Gorgeous today though isn't it?!:TElle xxI'm not easily distracted, I just... ... ... oh my god it's a puppy!!0 -
Its perfect today.
Just wondering if there is an internet cafe that has a printer in PB ?
As we are getting booted out of here at 10 am on departure day & don't fly till 9pm I've booked a hotel but need to print off the booking voucher.
Cheers0 -
OK lovely, lovely Elle.....so we now KNOW you're The Person In The Know if you know what I mean...!
Can you help me find a villa for 4 people, 2-3 bedrooms and preferably 2 bathrooms, central-ish to PB (but not too noisey!), late Feb 2011, private heated pool and within walking distance (for person with limited mobility but doesn't let it stop him!) to the gorgeous beaches for under £500?
And did I read somewhere something about electric bike hire? :T
C'mon girl...you CAN do it!!!!0
